It's cool how good character's can stay down to earth not be like Family Guy. But I feel a good cartoon should have some of it's elements overblown. A good example is Gravity Falls. Some of it's character's are down to earth and true, Meanwhile the plot situation is basically the X-files on a kids sugar high.

I honestly want to see (or make if it's possible) a down to earth chill cartoon in modern times. Kinda like Downtown. Not overly adult, just natural dialogue and jokes when they are needed. And not a parody of modern society, smartphones do exist but not everyone is obsessed with them

There was a Comicbook drawing contest at my local library that I participated in. There were two categories which were Cover and Panel Scene but I went with Cover because I knew my limits lmao. But I ended up winning because I included all the important details, such as filling out the backstory info and such. My brother also entered but he didn't actually include any info so his was rejected, but I feel like maybe othe kids also forgot to fill out the non-drawing parts. I wonder if that's up somewhere still.

Even when MTV moved away from Music, it still had relevance as an entertainment channel for teenagers and twentysomethings. Now it's just a name, a name without any real purpose or meaning.

Mission Hill is such an interesting show that was dumped onto the WB with shows like the oblongs, Baby blues, and some others that I've completely forgotten. It was pretty much sent out to die like the other shows I mentioned. Network TV just didn't seem to ever know what to do with edgier animated shows it seems like. The landscape of the early to mid-2000s are littered with the corpses of a million shows that barely got through a single season.

I feel like the reason why collage settings isn't a very popular setting for animated show is simply because that collage culture doesn't really exist like how it does in the US. In Europe, from my experience at least, collage is just treated like the final stage of school and not much more. The social aspect does exist, but nothing like the "live hard, die young" attitude that is depicted in shit like American pie.

@@stratomarten That's just it. There was a total demographic shift at some point and they really stopped focusing on the M of MTV. It's not completely gone but it hardly matters anymore. The thing is MTV is a memorable Brand name like Nickelodeon,cartoon Network etc. And that's all that they really are a brand name. I've seen people's videos explaining how music television just didn't make sense anymore and from a business and financial standpoint I get it. Still it's sad to see a once-great channel turned into an absolute pile of crap.

Yeah, this show was on Teletoon for years and even migrated to Adult Swim Canada for a bit (on the late night CN block, not the channel). Ironic I got my first real taste of this show when I went into college, being that one of my teachers worked on the show as an artist - I still have a comic assignment I made with Gimpy and Nitz at my bedside. Even though my college experience was nothing like in Undergrads, I still really enjoyed the show. I'm glad it's getting some kind of continuation and really wanna see where it goes!

Going back to this. Even with anime, not a lot are focused in college/university. But that’s just a different culture where high school is viewed as the greatest time ever. Only a few I can think that take place in university like Golden Time or even Rent a Girlfriend.

I have very fond memories of this and clone high growing up, what's interesting up here in canada is during the summer they'd re run both shows, almost to signify those graduating highschool and those going into it atleast how I saw it.

I do have to say that this was actually a pretty great and super motivational video about not giving up on your dream and to always take a chance to find a new road when it seems like the others are at a dead end in nowhere. I've never heard of this show until now (I was like 6 when this came out and if it wasn't power rangers or CN I didn't give a shit), but watching this video and actually getting to experience college for myself has sparked a sense of curiosity in me to check it out and look into where the movie will go.

I only now realize how truly great my childhood was in the 2000's growing up with shows like this, modern cartoons are good and all but there's something about this era of comedy and cartoon style that really holds up over the years. This and Clone High were some of my favourite shows.

@@klonoafan2012 I thinks its more to do with the fact that these original adult cartoon from the 90s and early 2000s where complete failures non of them outside south park where that popular and if they were they where just fads (example being bevis and butthead) so around the late 2000s and early 2010s with family guy arguably being the most popular adult cartoon of the time TV executives stopped giving a shit about taking risks and copied family guy looking at its Morden episodes and assuming that was the reason the show was successful

I used to watch this cartoon years ago. Looking back some of the gags are still funny after so many years. I can't believe that I'm finding out NOW that a movie is being Kickstarted. As long as production doesn't go through development hell, I wish the creator the best. Don't let fans down, guy.
