nice video. Stepping or slipping to the side is good for countering and to get a better angle. But alot of times for me anyways, it seems harder to land a leg kick that way. My sparing partner always seems to know its coming, so this was very helpful. One motion, from the back leg so quickly and effectively....thanks for posting!

Would it be better if stepping sideways (support leg & foot) to generate more power for the low kick and leaning sideways (head & body) to dodge the counter attack at the same time?
@warriorcollective10 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the type of low kick being thrown (it can be thrown 90 degrees, which you can see Joe do on occasion, and this is where he does step off as you suggested or 45 degrees, which is what Joe and Richard both utilise to good effect without the need to over pivot or lose speed). Both can work well. I would message Richard direct via his youtube channel or twitter (bad company muay thai) or Facebook if you would like further insight into his particular thoughts and methods. Hope this helps!

I was taught to target just above the knee , is that not as effective as aiming for the shorts ?
@warriorcollective8 жыл бұрын
Different points on the leg lead to different results. Some instructors advise one way and others say to hit the alternate area. Both can be effective equally in different ways.
@wrestler-kickboxer25245 жыл бұрын
@@warriorcollective A lot of people also target below the knees. Why is that?

Nice vids sir!! I saw you give the lowkicks right under the hips, our trainer teaches us to give the lowkick just above the knee or in the middle of the leg. What's the difrence?? Osu!!

Seguro mundo capoeira Glad you enjoyed the vid, thanks for the kind comment and good question! Essentially, different targets on the leg lead to different points of damage, both on the inside and the outside. Some opponents can seem to take shots more readily in one area than in others so it is worth mixing it up sometimes! Hope this helps, keep training hard!!
@peterpupovac5719 жыл бұрын
Seguro mundo capoeira The lowkick right above the knee cripples you faster, but it's easier to get hurt when he lifts the block just for a few cm. The lowkick 'on the shorts' it's very painfuly and it kind of slows you down.

No problem mate :) This was taught to me by Giorgio Petrosyan btw :) if you check his fights he always targets the upper part of the leg.
@gussk8e9 жыл бұрын
+Seguro mundo capoeira Peter said a good point but in my case, if it matter to you, i rather take my chances in being checked or mixing it up might help. Low kick above his knee and then by the upper area of the thigh. Reason being, i rather get checked it because if he sees you're continually kicking in his upper leg, all he has to do is slightly step in and you'll land right on his hip bone and man, does that fucking hurt. I think a check hurts a bit less lol

Why does your kicker without the shin pads keep his planted foot static? It should be turning on the ball. Otherwise you aren't kicking through the target.
@robertkalvinsky21817 жыл бұрын
different technique. this is more like dutch style low kick. muay thai uses ball of the feet but even buakaw kicks sometimes with planted foot. its better for preserving the energy and balance.

What is up man, your videos are great but I can't throw fast low kicks, please give me tips
@warriorcollective10 жыл бұрын
Cro Mino Thanks, glad you are finding the vids useful. If as I am assuming you are regularly training with a good coach, it really just becomes a case of repetition of movement. The cleaner the technique, the more fluid you should be able to utilize it. Speak to your coach, study the vids and practise, practise, practise... Keep training hard, post a vid when you get chance and I will take a look!!

I notice you throw your low kicks in a more upper ward angle, is that more of a Thai style or Dutch style or it’s something you and your fighters do? Doesn’t the kick slide up because of the angle? Either way I love it, thank you for the videos.

dj johnston I am really pleased that an 11 year old is trying to improve their Muay Thai. I think that low kicks are an essential part of any aspiring Nak Muay's tools so just keep working on it, you may find more use for it as you grow!

Im being training for 4 years and i had to defend myself two times, i let them throw 1 or 2 punches witch i hand tap and end with a hard lowkick, same result both times, they go down screaming " ooohh my knee!" i also seen all from newbies to pros go down after 2-8 lowkicks :) the only con with lowkicks are takedowns from a good wrestler otherwise i love it.
@lex.cordis6 жыл бұрын
Low kicks are far more powerful and dangerous. They do way more damage and have a higher percentage of landing. I'd recommend focusing on them more than body kicks, but it's important to be well-rounded with all the techniques.

this is wrong way to throw muay thai low kick, his standing feet should be twisting while throwing low kick, otherwise its powerless
@warriorcollective8 жыл бұрын
I think there is a lot of debate as to which is better. There is no one perfect way to throw it, a lot of thai fighters utilise it in slightly different ways. Richard Smith head coach of Bad Company is a hugely experienced coach and his fighters make this low kick work very well consistently! Sometimes things that are counter to what we have been taught will look wrong but in reality they are just a different way. Hope you enjoyed the video regardless!

@@warriorcollective Maybe its a different style, but what about the knee? Isn't that at a higher risk to get a knee injury or is it safe?

you should be kicking just above the knee not where the shorts are this is incorrect!

+The french fighter It is incorrect that you should kick only above the knee, and it is more correct that both are correct.
