I went to Phuket for a 3 week vacation 2 years ago and saw the same guy fight 3 times in 10 days. He won the first 2 fights by knockout and fought for the championship title at Bangla stadium the third time and lost a decision. I was impressed to say the least.

Siam is basically Thai people and before there were many Thai kingdoms (Ayuthaya, Sukhothai and etc). So all the people from all those kingdoms were Siam people. Thailand is still Siam it is just renamed

Reverend Fry what has Naresuan got to do with anything?
@reverendfry6088
@reverendfry6088 6 жыл бұрын
There is a lesson in the EFL book "Thoughts & Notions" called Thai Boxing and it gives him credit for Muay Thai. About him being captured and defeting all of their best. "Naresuan defeated and killed the Myanmar crown prince in personal combat early in 1593."
@OKMediaProductions

Reverend Fry I’m sorry to tell you but your book is incorrect. The man who was captured and defeated Burma’s best was Nai Khanom Tom. Look it up, don’t believe everything you read in a book. Our knowledge has been sourced by practicing Muay Thai with credentialed practitioners and teachers from the motherland and abroad.

I wonder if the writer of the story used both because they got the date of 1560 wrong because he would have been 5. However, the Thai army has been practicing it since the 1500s.
@OKMediaProductions
@OKMediaProductions 6 жыл бұрын
Reverend Fry Yes I think the date is telling. I think the author of your book has mixed two historical figures together. You are right Thai boxing was around for centuries before Nai Khanom Tom defeated the Burmese soldiers, however Muay Thai originated after Tom’s heroics and he’s personal style ‘the art of eight limbs’ later become what is now the form of kickboxing known as Muay Thai.

Getting punched & kicked in the head feels contrary to being healthy in the long-term. I admire the dedication and effort that is put into a fighting career, but let's not delude ourselves. After 20 years of this, you will pay the toll on all those concussions. It's definitely not good for your memory.

I guess you have to find balance and proper training, and differentiate for yourself if it's for self improvement or winning g a tournament amongst other things. If you aren't dedicated to being the best in the game you don't need to put yourself through the same trauma on your body. You can take a more "casual" approach. I learned this at a young age that you do not need to train or spar like it's a real fight, because you will lose you ability to function normally. I got into the ring with someone much better then me hoping to learn and all i got was head trauma and massive stomach pains, and a dissapointed dad. That taught me how to differentiate bad training to good training and how to use practical application in training. Jumbled thoughts not well structured, but I hope it makes some sense.

khmer is the brainwash nation the khmer government teach khmer to hate thai with no reason, why muay thai? even myanmar and lao has similar fighting style but khmer people say only "thai" stole from them this is ridiculous, i will point out some thing. -------------------------------------------------------------------- thai used to lern Sanskrit language from india and i can list similar word "Ayodhya" ancient city of India ............................."Ayutthaya" ancient capital and modern city in the Central Plains of Thailand. "Ramayana" ancient Indian epic poem ......................"Ramakien" Thailand's national epic,[1] derived from the Hindu epic Ramayana. "Musti-yuddha" come from classical Vedic epics such as the Ramayana and Rig Veda. The Mahabharata describes two combatants boxing with clenched fists and fighting with kicks, finger strikes, knee strikes and headbutts. from the Sanskrit words muśti (fist) and yuddha (fight, battle, conflict) Descendant arts Lethwei Tomoi Muay Boran Muay Lao Pradal Serey ..............................................thai word that sound similar "yuddha" and meaing the same thing in thai language is "ยุทธ์" reading is "yuttha" and come from Sanskrit word. ------------------------------------------------------------------ muay thai just come from india like the buddhism Religion.
