@@GaawutProductions A question, what's the difference between modern muay boran and modern muay thai?
@GaawutProductions2 жыл бұрын
@@-pao_de_queijo- Modern Muay Boran, better known as Muay Nam (Boxing of Water), is the style of Muay Boran that I founded with the aim of reforming Muay Boran by simplifying it, removing impractical techniques, refining what was useful, adding the great wealth of knowledge of modern fighting, and science. It is not a finished and crystallized style, it's always changing and improving. In Modern Muay Boran the focus is on the purest form of fighting: -Bare-knuckle -9 weapons of the body (Headbutts too) -Stand-Up Wrestling (All takedowns and throws allowed) -No rules -No ground fighting because in ancient times going to the ground meant death. (Only a basic defense system to get up quickly if you fall to the ground). However, many concepts can be effectively used in Muay Thai, Lethwei, MMA, and much more. The difference with Muay Thai is enormous because Muay Thai has many limitations, rules and a points-system (The Burmese Boxing, Lethwei, is closer to Muay Boran than Muay Thai itself so you can imagine the differences) If you check out my website you can find out more about Modern Muay Boran, link is on my channel or in the description. Muay Boran is like a rusty sword due to tradition, wrong training methods, and wrong fighting logic. Most Muay Boran masters today just keep it rusty and add beautiful jewels to sell it. For me it's different, I aim to restore its effectiveness.

Muay Jerng forms look very similar to yet another South East Asian martial art: Pencak Silat of neighbouring Malaysia. The Malays of the Kelantan-Southern Thai border call Muay Thai 'Tomoi' & basically this was the place where Silat locks & takedowns married with muay thai strikes & clinch but interestingly? This was at the South of Thailand, Northern Malaysia. The La Na Kingdom of Muay Jerng is North of Thailand, many miles away. And yet, the moves incorporated dance-like forms very similar to Pencak Silat at a glance. Maybe, just maybe Thai martial art evolved into hardcore battlefield arts due to invasion from neighbouring countries like Burma (Myanmar) whilst Silat retained it's aesthetic dance-like qualities from a lack of constant invasion/civil wars. Much like how the La Na kingdom banned combat sports & became closed off. I'm beginning to see that martial arts like Muay Boran or ancient Lethwei were born out of a need to hit the battlefields & their techniques merged to form the standard in terms of killing blows, while less violent arts like Silat or Muay Jerng remained unevolved; pretty much "virgin" so to speak.

@GaawutProductions2 жыл бұрын
This is an extract from an article on my blog: "The style of the hero Phraya Pichai Dab Hak, also known as Thongdee Fan Kao. This style was born from the union of Muay Thasao with Chinese martial arts. Many of the features of Muay Thasao are the same for this style as well, it is heavily focused on fast kicks, and it aims to defeat the opponent in the shortest possible time. The stance is almost identical to the Thasao one but the front arm is bent and held near the eyebrow, while the rear arm is held near the chin to protect it and to protect the neck. Practitioners of this style prefer to position themselves externally to the opponent, and not to face him frontally". Another peculiarity of the style is kicking without swinging the arms, check out the article "Muay Boran Styles Overview" on my blog (link in bio and on my youtube channel) to find more information. There at least 2 books published by the Muay Thasao Phraya Pichai headmaster on the style, but they are in Thai language 🙏

@GaawutProductions2 жыл бұрын
These styles have all been developed in Thailand so it's natural for them to have few common traits. However, that's not the case, if you mix different Muay Boran styles you might end up creating a mess. Muay Boran has a lot of potential hindered by years of wrong training methods and useless techniques, you must be able to discern what works and what not, what is useful and what is useless, what can be refined to be used, and what cannot. It's not an easy task, since almost all Muay Boran masters out there do not face reality and get trapped in tradition or a "fantasy reality of combat". What I'm doing in this channel is reforming Muay Boran under one unique style, which is simple, effective, and efficient, the Modern Muay Boran, better known as Muay Nam. I recommend you to follow my work as a guide for you. You can explore styles by yourself but be careful. The Chaiya stance for example is not the most optimal, it's almost a side stance that exposes the back of the leg and ends up constricting you. The triangular guard shuts down your jab, the most important punch ever. Couple all this with unrealistic and highly complicated blocks and you might now understand what I meant in the last paragraph. The Chaiya stance in their demonstrations seems invincible but that's because: 1) it's a demonstration 2) the are no real feints When chaiya fighters fight for real, as you can see in youtube videos, it's easy to exploit their stance with feints, and the truth about their intangible stance comes out. They take a lot of punishment and even do some beginners errors due to wrong training methods and fighting logic. This does not mean that Muay Chaiya is useless, I myself took a lot of techniques and principles from Muay Chaiya, but as it is now it has a lot of room for improvement, otherwise, it will always reach a limit and other modern styles, even Muay Thai, will overwhelm it.

@GaawutProductions2 жыл бұрын
@@24kRa3d_- Feel free to ask anything, I like answering questions. Every style has different stances, footwork, techniques, mechanics, and strategies, but they might have some in common. Generally, all Muay Boran styles are well-rounded, which means they are capable of using all 8 weapons but usually the focus is on 2. Muay Chaiya is totally different from Muay Korat and they are both totally different from Muay Thasao. It's almost like studying a different martial art.

Mmh,i was going to ask about Pahuyut ,until i saw it . One says that the other is fake,what is the truth?
@GaawutProductions3 жыл бұрын
Traditional styles are recorded in Thai history, the Pahuyut "master" is distorting Thai history with false stories and events to support his "martial art", and they are defaming the masters of the main styles and the styles themselves (without having ever studied them) which are recognized by the Thai people and historical sources. One example is the famous master of Muay Chaiya, Khet Sryiyapai, who is the grandson of the Lord of Chaiya who had assignments related to the King and the Thai Army (everything is documented); there is no more qualified person to learn muay Chaiya from, yet the master of Pahuyut tries to discredit him. The creepy thing about Pahuyut is not so much the fact that they spread a fake ineffective martial art, that they defame historically famous Thai Masters, that it is an actual cult, but more the fact that they spread false knowledge about Thai history that deceive those who have never known it, creating confusion about the true history and traditions of a country, all this just for money. Furthermore, it is enough to see their training and their techniques to realize that there is no real martial foundation behind the "art". They will not survive 5 seconds in a ring against an average Muay Thai practitioner, even if he is a beginner.
@junichiroyamashita3 жыл бұрын
@@GaawutProductions it is a pity,i often found people under Muay Boran video discrediting the lineages,and often under Pahuyut videos. @GaawutProductions3 жыл бұрын
@@junichiroyamashita Pahuyut is not Muay Boran, I do not advise to buy or even listen to their claims or their techniques. Both the elements and methods are wrong. The people discrediting the main styles are people from Pahuyut, they personally started that defaming campaign under every Muay Boran video on youtube, every comment is the same, they copy and paste it. They try to defame the others to rise, but their enemy is Thai history itself, they will never succeed. Don't be scammed.

@@junichiroyamashita Well that's not true, You can see a video on their channel that shows the Pahuyut master struggling in a friendly demonstration in a European Sword Gathering. What he practices didn't work, not even in slow motion, and it didn't fooled an actual sword expert. The European sword practitioner noticed it very soon and didn't take the Pahuyut master very seriously. I have very basic knowledge of armed combat, but it doesn't take long to realize that what they do can't work, it's unrealistic and you'd be killed just trying in a real sword fight. In any case, the effectiveness in combat is not decided by speaking but by demonstrating with actions in fights and sparring, and they never did and never will, because exposing themselves would ruin their business because everyone would realize the truth.

@GaawutProductions3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly. Chaiya is located in Surat Thani, South Thailand, on the totally opposite side to where Burma was located (Near North Thailand). Muay Chaiya wasn't born there though, it was brought to Chaiya by a monk (supposedly an ex-soldier or ex-boxer) from Bangkok. The monk was called Than Ma Phantom (Ajarn Ma), It is said that he helped to tame a wild elephant that was damaging farms in the area, and a temple was built to celebrate his success, the "Wat Thung Chap Chang" (The Temple of the Elephant Captured in the Field). It was in this temple that he taught the martial arts that he knew to the locals of the city. One of the students was Phraya Wacheesatyarak (Kham Sriyabhai), the governor of Chaiya at that time, and since then, the branch of Muay Thai taught by this monk came to be known as Muay Chaiya. But yes, it is one of the styles that have preserved lethal techniques, such as bone-breaking, and neck-breaking techniques.

@@olafkliemt1145 I'm not an expert in Thai history but I'm not aware of an extension of the Burmese border as far as in Chaiya. Chumpon and Chaiya were attacked by the Burmese, Thalang (Early Pukhet) was attacked mainly by the sea with their fleets, as most of the forces of Thailand were concentrated in the North. This however is not correlated with Muay Chaiya, it was never thought specifically to fight the Burmese, and we don't know for sure where Ajarn Ma learned the Art. Since Muay Chaiya also has weapon fighting, it is clear that it was aimed at fighting in wars, but not specifically for the Burmese-Siamese wars.

I have a great appreciation for this particular style, and I'd like to study it in more depth. If you have any files, would you mind sending me a copy? Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, greetings from Brazil.

Hi, I've published some techniques of Muay Phra Chao Seua in my Instagram page, I'll share the book since a master made a free version.

@@GaawutProductions It's okay, I always wanted to know about the specific translations of this document. Even using character recognition, it is impossible to translate. Anyway, I look forward to more translations. Anyway, thanks for your work.

Yeah, I know, personally, I look for my material in Thai, and I always try to get as close as possible to the original source. I surf the internet and check the sources, I don't have any in particular.

Muay jerng Lanna is influenced by the Chinese Tai Chi, Bai Mei, Ba Kuang and Qin Na, not silat Malaysia and Indonesia

where can I learn muay plam
@GaawutProductions6 ай бұрын
You can learn Muay Boran's wrestling, but real Muay Plam, as a standalone discipline with its own ruleset and traditions, is lost

Thaiyuth looks insane good. thaiachira looks like wing chun mix. Very good
@GaawutProductions2 жыл бұрын
Yes Thaiyuth is amazing. Thaiachira is a Muay Chaiya school, it is not clear in the video sorry for that Yes, there might be some similarities with wing chung.

I wonder those Thaiyuth folks don't compete in Muay Thai. Would really spice things up.

I believe it is because a lot of the old martial arts do not like tournament or sport fighting.

the best martial art. traditional, spiritual. complite
Looks similar to silat. Muay Thai in the 20's is totally different from the current muay Thai. The development is only recent.

Muay jerng is silat in Indonesia ❤️
@GaawutProductions3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly, the kingdom of Lanna was in the north of Thailand while Indonesia is in the south. It is much more likely that Silat influenced Muay Chaiya, a southern style, than Muay Jerng, a northern style, but a possible influence of Silat on Muay Jerng cannot be excluded. Thank you for your comment, I love Silat!
@deadaccount5312 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. It has common movement and roots with the Burmese as lets say Shan arts are on both Thailand and Burma sides. It is from North. Far from the South. Circular movement and high to low was not invented by Indonesians. It looks similiar but so does some of the Burmese Thaing, In Chaiya, Chaiya did not originate in the South but was brought down from the central or northern plain and through combat interaction adopted counter moves. So it was not a southern art born in the south. Its easy just from outside visuals that they are the same but I dont think they are at all.

So what would be the style of "Muay" used by Tony Jaa in the movie Ong Bak?
@GaawutProductions3 жыл бұрын
In Ong Bak Tony Jaa uses a hybrid style with some exaggerated features to make it more spectacular. He already had knowledge of Muay Boran before Ong Bak, but for the movie he was further prepared by Amnat Pookrisuk, an expert on different ancient styles (Muay Korat, Chaiya, Lopburi and others).

Wow Muay jerng in my eyes somehow is very similar to silat.
How do I train the forms like karate does with Kata to Bunkai then to kumite I'm just now learning Muay thai
@GaawutProductions6 ай бұрын
Forms are not beneficial to Muay in my opinion, it's better to learn the techniques by exercising with a cooperative partner that gives you sense of distance, timing and weight distribution. Then once you have learned the correct form, practice them in shadowboxing and sparring. Karate's Kata have sequences that simulate real combinations, while Muay's forms are just a compendium of techniques without a practical progression. I've translated the oldest Muay book and there are some great drills to do with a partner, I recommend it 🙏
