Solid advice. A lot of my instructors prefer the switch kick but I've always liked throwing the lead leg from orthodox. It's good practice to mix it up to keep your enemy guessing but I still prefer the technique you're showing.

This was great! Any advice for how to low kick for a beginner Southpaw? It seems similar.

why not just throw another jab rather than just aimlessly throwing your hand out on the third? it's the same difference
@smol_hornet6138 жыл бұрын
+whyrez Not sure, but I think it could be to use variation as a way of distracting them. If the first two are regular jabs, then throwing out an open palm for the third time might come off as confusing, which could lead to the opponent instinctively switching their focus towards your palm for a millisecond or so. Just an idea, though, so don't quote me on that :)

+RazSlayer That's a fair response. A very subtle psychological manipulation, but viable I suppose.

I think it's used to blind the opponent so you can reposition your legs to kick
@smol_hornet6138 жыл бұрын
+Linh Ta I'd say that could be it, yeah. Since the palm is vertically larger than the fist, it would be better suited for obscuring the opponent's vision, similar to some sword and shield techniques.
