Sorry for the stupid question but I can't find any answer on my own. Much shouldn't be used with singoulat countable nouns, just uncountable .. isn't it? So why can I find sentences like: "There isn't much gas in the car", "There isn't much space to write." or : "there isn't much information" like at the end of that video? (pl. gasses, spaces, informations)...what am I missing? Best regards from Italy!

There is some information that you didn't mention. For example, A LOT OF is commonly used with words that have a positive meaning, like friends, food, money.. in other words, it's not just a matter of saying "You use a lot of in affirmative sentences", it depends on the NOUN. One won't say _I have a lot of headache_ because headache is a bad thing. Also, after the 7-minute mark, you said that you can use many or much to REFER TO A NOUN that has been mentioned before to avoid repetition. Sure, you can do that, but MANY and MUCH will no longer work as a quantifier, their grammar function is now an INDEFINITE Pronoun! Additionally, MANY is used in negative sentences, yes. But also in affirmative sentences with a NEGATIVE meaning if there's a word mentioning resistance, denial, a low-frequency adverb or a negative connector. Examples: She _rarely_ talks to MANY people; _Unfortunately_ there are many bills to pay; _Nobody_ has many good ideas.
@WoodwardEnglish5 жыл бұрын
Yes, there will always be things that I miss out in videos... especially with some exceptions to main rules. Sometimes I include those in a video later, as a more advanced lesson (or it appears on my website). At the moment I just try to cover the basic rules of everything while mentioning COMMON exceptions. For example, right now I am working on videos about Conditionals. There is no way I will be able to cover ALL of the exceptions or uses of conditionals without it being needlessly boring or the video being excessively long.
