If anyone here ever makes it out to Hiroshima, I'd also recommend the Yamato museum in Kure, which is quite close. The model really is massive, and there's a free JMSDF museum with a real submarine right next door. The temporary exhibit had a full english voiced audio guide (by the VA of Kancolle Gambier Bay), but sadly the main museum did not. In the winter months they also open the blinds and you can get some wild sunset lighting on the Yamato model in the evening

and Kure is the home port of the Izumo-class aircraft carriers, so you might be able to see one if you're lucky.

@mudan For future reference ; Double bed = 2 pillows wide Queen = 2.5 pillows wide King = 3 pillows wide If you can't tell what you've got, line up the pillows and see how much space is left on the bed. No space is double, a bit of space but not enough to fit another pillow is queen and if you could line up 3 pillows without them falling off it's a king. Hope this helps!

For a Japanese Hotel in a city.. That was actually a good view... But no bathtub is weird. Did the hotel have like a public bath? Japanese love their baths. More so than showers. Understandably. Onsen review in autumn to winter? Can't wait. PS: even though I have been to okoyama, I don't have any recommendation, sorry. Go see the castle, I guess.
@flavorhostage6 ай бұрын
I'm in Okayama every year visiting friends. If you have time, go see the art islands. If you're just in the city, I'm not sure exactly what I'd suggest (I usually just wander around) but my favorite ramen place is Okinoshima Ramen right near the station. The castle grounds are nice, as is the park. I had the best soba ever last year, but my friend drove me straight north for an hour and a half to Maniwa and then on to an onsen so I'm not sure if that's the best idea either. Art islands over that and you can get there using trains and a ferry.

Okayama has of course Kōraku-en one of the 3 great gardens of Japan. I don’t know if you will have time but while Okayama castle is a reconstruction from after the war, Bitchu Matsuyama Castle is the highest elevation castle in Japan and one of the 12 original castles.

If you go to Okayama, it would be worth it to take a detour and go to Kurashiki since it's only a 15 min train ride from Okayama. I would recommend seeing Achi Shrine and the Bikan Historic Quarter. I went there last month it without really a plan and I just discovered a lot of random shrines around the places, the biggest one being achi shrine
@misakamikoto39066 ай бұрын
Of course you should go to Korakuen in Okayama. Kibitsu and Kibitsuhiko shrines are also cool, but those are a bit far from the garden. Also, Okayama is knows for their peaches, so you should try it.
