You're welcome, did you race? How did you get on if so?

Thank you for the time in making and posting these 4 videos. I'm doing the Arc 100 unsupported and have only ran from Coverack to Penzance. So i didn't have any knowledge of what to expect later until now. So big thumbs up to you.

How did it go for you??

@@teamsolerunmilesdrinkgin8856 No, I didn't finish. All good though. So this was the 2nd time attempting the Arc100. I live too far away to to any recceing and last year i got timed out at Penzance. So this was my number 1 goal not to this time. I started off and within miles i was struggling on the steep accents. I just couldn't breath. It was like this for about 20 miles. I was very concerned and thought about dropping out at the first checkpoint. This was not good. No covid or nothing. Just simply struggled with breath. Anyway i got past the first checkpoint and saw the best sunset i have ever seen in my life. I simply just wanted to sit down and watch it. Obviously i couldn't. I then got to Penzance. The cut off time is 23:45 and i got there at 1hr before that. So i was well happy. Then things got bad. My feet was getting very sore. I was worried about stress fractures. Seeing so many people with crew and getting fresh shoes, nutrition etc really got to me. The most annoying runner who was with me for miles and i just could not git rid of him and then the final big problem. I slipped on a big rock and landed on my back. If my back pack was not on then god knows what state i would have been in. Anyway i was down for about 5 mins around 2:30am shoulder hurt and blood on my hand. It took another 2hours limping and crawling up the steps at the minack theatre to the arc angels where i quit. The thought of trying to get to lands end to my drop bag was not an option. So today I'm not depressed. Happy i did the right thing. Don't hurt too much now. Unfortunately its a race which you need crew i think. I cannot have that as my wife doesn't drive. Next year.....lol.....Maybe I'll do the Arc50...but a small percentage of me is saying what the hell. Go for the 100. That's the idiot part of me :D How did you get on?

@@teamsolerunmilesdrinkgin8856 Oh ignore my question about how did you do! Woohoo i have just seen. 2nd place female and only 7 mins off the 1st place. That's epic. Super well done to you.

Oh no, I'm so sorry you didn't make it. It's still 50 miles and it's 50 miles on some of the trickiest coast path. I think you're right, crew is very important. I'm so glad you are not too badly hurt though after your falls. Very lucky. I think anyone even standing on the start line of the 100 is a hero because they've had the courage to even enter. Well done to your for your effort regardless of the outcome.

Good video, I'm kind of in training for this in that I'm doing the saints and smugglers series this year. If I fare well I'll consider doing the arc solo. Risky for a first time, but I'm local and have walked most of the coast the only real areas to watch being Zennor and Porthgwarra and further down a nice hole in the ground that's best avoided. Brilliant result, bet you're dead pleased. Any suggestions for a first timer?

Thank you Darren. I am planning on doing a couple of the saints and smugglers so will see you there! I think you will need to enter soon though as it usually sells out - presumably you are thinking of the 50 and not the 100?! If its the 100 - good on you! The cut off's don't really allow for total walking so I would certainly recommend getting in plenty of running practice on the coast path and reccying the route. As for suggestions, practice nutrition for sure. Learn what you can and cant eat after a few hours as it all changes.
