My Dad had one of the only two sorghum mills in our area. We haven't used it since the early 70s though. I will probably sell it. Don't have the pan any longer or the skimmers. Just the mill.

Thats cool, it's almost a lost art. Bet you have a lot of great stories regarding the mill.

@@JohnnyontheTrail Man, I was so young it's hard to remember a lot. I couldn't make sorghum without someone showing me how. I remember most of it, but... definitely not an expert.

is this like sugarcane? you press and destroy the cane to get the juice, then boil the juice to make brown sugar?
@JohnnyontheTrail4 жыл бұрын
Yes it's like sugarcane only in this region it's sorghum. They make a great product. They are at Cades Cove every year. Stop by and see this IRL and even get a taste of that sweet goodness.

Hey Johnny when did you make this video
@JohnnyontheTrail5 жыл бұрын
John Ball Hi John. I filmed it yesterday and edited it yesterday evening. I have a bigger project video that I’m still working on so this one came next since it was a fairly easy edit.

What time of the year do they come down to Cade’s Cove?
@JohnnyontheTrail4 жыл бұрын
Generally in the autumn months. I believe they post the dates on their website.
