All the existing languages in the world came from their ancestral languages. Similarly Malayalam and Tamil came from a mixture of common ancestral languages. Later they split to different languages. In future, different dialets of a language become a new language. Thats how languages grow. Otherwise it will be a dead language like Sanskrit. There were many many old languages before which we dont even know because they didnt have script. Script came very late. So its not possible to trace or date those languages. All south indian languages including tamil came from languages proto to dravidian languages. Thats why Malayalam and Tamil are called sister languages. The whole world know Malayalam is one of the 22 official languages in India. So no one bother of you cry harder for Malayalam being recognised as an individual language. We all know how tamilians treat other languages. You guys are so insecure about your language thats why you guys hate and get afraid when someone speak other languages.
