Great music... Great melody. Close your eyes and listen... you don't realize the passage of time. I appreciate the Mudhra Sabha for mentioning the Raaga of the Krithis. It really helps many in the audience. Most of the Sabhas do not follow this practice, and the listeners have to waste their time trying to find the Raaga from the booklet they carry or from their Mobiles.

A magnificent concert by vidwan sikkil gurucharan. True to the lineage, a versatile and seasoned vocalist, he presented a neat concert ; nice selection of kritis & very clear diction 👍 Starting with a varnam in vasantA , he followed up with phalamanjari (sanAtana paramapAvanA) a bEgadA (kadaikaNN) vasantabhairavi (nee daya rAdA) beauty of a bhairavi (raksha bettarE, an utsava sampradAya kriti , where the saint sings to ward off evil sights from perumAL) a yamunAkalyAni (pAsuram angaNmAjyAlatuu) concluding with jonpuri (Andavan darisanamE) Wonderful ✨ The violin support by vidwan HNB was excellent & the percussion support by the seasoned and senior maestro UKS sir (mridangam) and vidwan sree sundarkunar (ganjira) was blissful 👏 the thani led by UKS sir is a must-hear ; exemplary and a lesson to all how a pakka vAdhyam will embellish the concert as a whole 👍

IMHO Umayalpuram sets too high a standard by throwing his weight, without saying a word indeed, and promptly fails to reach the heights set by himself ..! To me it sounded just nothing phenomenal but instead about average. My two cents.

Phalamanjari is a creation of Thyagarajaswami. I haven't hearf this Sanathana in a long time. In the illsutrious company of my friend Umayalpuram saar, the violinist, som of my friend Narasimhamoorthy and the placentious kanjiraman Gurucharan is thriving here.
