@Mudpies, I do love toe beans! Calico cats are so pretty. I have three sweet girls, though none are calico. One is grey, the other two are tabby cats. Nice pipe finds and what a beautiful spring afternoon / evening you had for squelching through the mud, looking for treasures. I was wondering, were you able to find out any information about the chemist's bottle from London? The fire damage on the stoneware pot you found is such a shame. That's so heartbreaking. Perhaps you could still use it as a plant pot in your garden? Greetings and good vibes to you both from my home in eastern North Carolina! ❤️

Not a bad evening of mudlarking, that bubbly amber bottle is my favourite, and I love the pipe bowl with the Masonic symbol on it. I give you both credit for trekking out on the flats at that time of day, I know from experience here in New Jersey that there can be some treacherous sink holes. Please be careful. Josie, I'm happy every time you find pipes, I find them to be fascinating. I'm not a smoker, but those pipes depict a time in my families history when I know my Great-Grandfather used to smoke those pipes. I've seen photos of him with those clay pipes, he was a smaller man and he looked like a leprechaun. Take the best of care, and keep digging!

What a fantastic adventure you two - thanks for taking us along with you! What a pipe-tastic belter of a squelch. And guys, wait till I tell you - you aren't going to Adam and Eve this one - but there you go finding my old stuff again 🫨 So many many years ago, I was planning my own adventure of the coast line - I had in mind a solo trip in my FLPHG (foot-launched powered hang glider) for which I obviously needed to pack a few essentials to consume on my journey. I used my faithful old chemist bottle to carry some diluted orange squash, some sarnies and nuts etc which i stuffed in my big old stone wear jar (not the most practical storage for in-flight but very effective at keeping your grub fresh I tell ya!). I popped the lot in my nap-sack along with a little jar of hot sauce to put on my butties as I'm partial to a little extra spice. Off I went then, take off was smooth and uneventful and I soon reached my ideal cruising altitude of about 6,000 feet - conditions were perfect and I was elated to be up there! Anyway the peckishness started to hit so I took out my packed lunch. First I chucked loads of hot sauce on my sarnies and scoffed the lot - and washed it all down with lashings of orange squash. Then I realised - yep, I had overdone the hot sauce. My tummy started to gurgle and churn - and you guessed it I found myself in desperate need. ************************Reader discression advised for the next bit ********************* The only vessel i could get my hands on quick was my now empty chemist bottle. Now under normal circumstances it wouldnt be a problem, but you can imagine the challenge of this manouvre whilst hanging off a piece of nylon sheeting at 6,000 feet? And yes it went a bit pear shaped for a while but eventually - the bottle was full and stoppered, safely tucked away in my sack. Well you can imagine my relief - the moment was utter euphoria and I decided the occasion warranted a puff of baccy smoke (not these days, I geve up smoking ages ago and would never condone this filthy habit!). So out came my favourite pipe, handed down to me from my Grandad who was a Stone Mason - such a special pipe to me, sentimental value! Obviously lighting my pipe was a total 'mare as I only had matches - and after several failed attempts I finally got her lit. But that wasn't all that I had lit. I could smell the distinctive odour of burning plastic - ie nylon hang glider material - OH NO!! I grabbed my parachute - the glider was going down like Chinatown - my pipe flew out of my mouth and all my stuff, including my nap sack fell from the doomed machine - and thats when I made my jump. Thankfully I'm here to tell the tale, I made it safe and well - largely thanks to the soft mud of the estuary creek. Lessons to be learned here? Sure. Take food in proper containers when you go adventuring. Don't overdo the hot sauce - even if you totally love it. Don't smoke near petrol - or make any spark near flammable materials. Always tell an adult where you,re going. Last but not least - possibly of high importance - make sure you wash your bottles THOROUGHLY and disinfect them, especially chemist bottles that smell a bit eggy. Nice one guys. can't wait for the next one - peace out! Love from Bucky PS the old stoneware jar obviously got torched along with the flaming hang glider! If you do happen to find my propeller would you let me know? Chars doods
@Mudpies7 ай бұрын
Holy moly hot sauce!!!! Somehow you keep surpassing yourself, we will endeavour to search for your lost propeller and maybe you can fly again!? Legend status 💪👍😄❤️
