Oh I still hate the g2s. All three of mine were a nightmare but these gen 3s have been good so far.

@@MudPuppyOffroadgen 1 09-011 or 12 is best, frame upgrade and basic reliability in my opinion
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 21 күн бұрын
@colbsterg3362 yeah super reliable after you upgrade the frame the rear differential the drive shaft... Lol I wouldn't touch a gen one with a 10-ft pole. I have to work on them enough as it is
@colbsterg3362
@colbsterg3362 21 күн бұрын
@ really? I haven’t had to touch the rear differential, the driveshaft I put new u joints in recently but that’s it, 600 hours 3500 miles, only real problem I had with it was control arm bushings being junk and wear out quickly, no ecu or computer problems either and it’s been sunk twice
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 21 күн бұрын
@colbsterg3362 You're really not aware of the catastrophic rear diff issues Can-Am has been fighting ever since the Gen 1? Yes, on some of the latest gen 2s the diffs are okay but for the several years the differentials were crap. My 2017 XMR 1000 needed a whole wire harness and a couple ignitions to keep it running lol My 2016 570 had an ECU full of water LOL. This is all documented on the KZbin channel if you're interested

I do a lot of enduro trail riding here in Arkansas and can vouch for the 700 in it's stock form. It rides so well that it doesn't scare my wife like my old grizzly or my sxs does so this spring the 700 will be hers and i'll be picking up either the 850 or 1k cuz I like something that will stand up when I want her to. Can't wait to see what you do with your new 850 brother

I’ve absolutely been loving my Pro HD7 and agree that it’s the best outlander yet and maybe the best Atv available right now. However, like you I’ve been tempted to go to one of the Gen 3 v twins either the 850 or 1k so I’m excited to see how you like the 1000. FYI, engine mounts look the same on the 1k I PDI’d at work a month ago so that’s unfortunate.

I remember from your 850/1000xmr spec sheet video you said you were going to take the bumper off and put the winch lower where it should be. It make more sense being lower from a physics standpoint and should look better.

Any issues with engine check light in the dash display?My brothers 2023 XMR700 has this issue now.Seems the dealer has a few there with this problem and an update to the software is required.

Only the Gen 2 1000 XMR is geared anywhere near as low as all of the gen 3s. The P drive clutch is also seem to be a lot more reliable and easier on belts. The pulleys are huge
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 22 күн бұрын
I've had three gen 2s, all of which had catastrophic failures in the first year. Tons of burnt belts, shredded belts and crack belt boxes. Blown differentials drive shafts. Lots of electrical problems in the wire harness and ECUs etc

@MudPuppyOffroad i haven't had nun of that u watch all your videos the worst I've had is a cut up plug wire and a blown belt at 1k miles and a screw came out the trans and smashed the box

Do you recommend changing the gears on the XMR for those on the HD7 for 30" tires?
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 7 күн бұрын
No, if you're running a very heavy 30 maybe
@calesanders4052

I hope the work you’re doing on the Pioneer 1000 is a reasonably affordable gear reduction 🤞
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 22 күн бұрын
Unfortunately there's no way to make that gear reduction cheap. Someone might eventually find a way to make it work with a speedometer healer, but the tune is well worth the money
@landini25
@landini25 5 күн бұрын
Is it necessary to change 16% gears to mount a 30 tire? Or with the XMR gears it works fine
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 5 күн бұрын
This is a really fun question to answer over and over again. It depends which 30-in tire you want to run. The stock XMR 700 gearing is good for most lightweight-medium weight 30s

Any idea if the trans are the same as the 24’ g2 850 xmr? Id love to have that gear reduction in mine.
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 21 күн бұрын
Nope, I've made several videos on this topic already. All 24 and older 850 essentially uses the old base model transmission. Essentially there is no way to gear it lower other than to swap out the entire transmission for a 1000xmr transmission. The G3 platform is a totally different transmission layout than anything in a G2

Your quad has been through a lot of abuse indeed! You're an experienced rider and your trails are tough enough. But have you ever had problems with a high centre of gravity in your XMR700? Last season I dropped mine 4 times to the side and flipped it over once, just miraculously escaped being smashed. I did not have these issues on G2. Otherwise, it's the most reliable machine I've ever had, more HD than my Suzuki Jimmy on 33" tyres
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 21 күн бұрын
No, I have not had issues tipping it over but Florida is very flat. I think the center of gravity is pretty good. Much better than my new XMR 850 was lol. Sounds like you need some way of spacers

is this the one that you was getting water in your sub trans
@MudPuppyOffroad
@MudPuppyOffroad 21 күн бұрын
Yes, that turned out to be the gasket around where the gear reduction installs. When I got this from the factory it was missing a bolt there and I suspect one of the threads were kind of damaged. A new gasket and ultragrey on the bolt threads Fix the leak

You say you don't understand it but you just made the argument for me. Why would you pay an extra $1600 for a tune? I'm going to put a performance tune on it eventually regardless

Yeah I gotcha , most people just get the 1000 cause they are too lazy to get a tune put on, in all fairness I would do the same as your doing
