The bass player is an amazing player. He has a side project called Soften The Glare.

Pure, mad energy! Judging from the comments, people are looking for the wrong things in this song. If it's not for you, it doesn't mean that it's not musically complex, or that it's trash. It likely means that you can't pick out the individual sounds with a trained ear, and/or it's just not your kind of music. You made great points man. Couldn't agree more. From a fellow millenial who grew up with this, Slipknot's debut, Fear Factory, and others, it's all about the energy/musicianship. If you don't have any kind of a beast inside of you, this will not really speak to you. I STILL wanna throw something out a window when I hear this, but in like an enjoyable way. lol It's a straight-up revolt in music form. I can see anti-authoritarians loving this just for the message. To say it's not music and just loud sound is ignorant (referring to some of the comments here). As far as nu-metal goes, these guys were/are far more complex than your average band, and certainly more complex than 95% of pop music at the time. Unexpected and dope reaction y'all! Was fun to see it hit you in the face like a ton of bricks. Back in 2000, playing this for people would make them look at you different. 😂 This and "Sic" by Slipknot were my two favorite heavy tracks at the time, and I played them on loop. Might be another good reaction too, if the guys haven't heard it yet.

In later albums the angry feel kind of subsided. Much less screaming. Lead singer went on to sing in a group with Vinnie Paul(of Pantera fame) called Hellyeah. Ryan Martinie and Eugene from Jinjer are probably two of the best bassists in my book.

I think I ended up seeing Mudvayne somewhere between 10-12 times because they played so many different festivals and venue shows in the tri-state area in the early 2000s. I have to say they eventually won me over with their performances and I became a huge fan. I wasn't feeling their wall of sonic distortion that were some of their early shows. But over time they found their pace or had either better gear or better techs, and went to put on really tremendous opening performances for a lot of the popular acts of the time. However this eventually became a pretty serious problem for some of us floor people because where and when Mudvayne would open in the show was a lot earlier than the main acts (sometimes by as much as 3 hours). Typically you want to ramp up to bigger, more energetic pits and moshing but damn, I left many a show completely exhausted, drenched to my drawers in sweat, trying to survive the crowd and hold my position in it while people lost their f*king minds to songs like Dig, -1, and Under My Skin. Great live band back in the day, Ryan was/is a beast on bass, and Chad really did sustain his screams and grunts live, he had really impressive performances of Nothing to Gein live. L.D. 50 still holds up imo regardless how you might feel about the genre. Lot of rhythmic brutality.

I wrote this song and band years ago as a teen when I first heard of them (also seeing the Dig music vid didn't help me take them seriously either). Thought it was just noise, but as I grew, I started to see what I missed as a teen and now became a fan of Mudvayne. This song also made my gym playlist. As I grow, I am starting to give most of the music I wrote off years ago, a chance, and am glad I did that, cause it is expanding my taste in music.

I enjoy your reactions. Very diverse. But just curious as to why you haven't reacted to The Warning in over two years? Unless I missed it. Last one was from their 2nd album Queen of The Murder Scene, 'Dust to Dust' from 4 years ago. Their last one came out 13 months ago, 'Error.' And recently they released a song from their next album. Ale the bass player was sponsored by Spectre guitars when she was 14. They gave her a custom 5 string bass at that time. A year ago they opened for Muse, Hailstorm and The Foo Fighters a week before the drummer for The Foo Fighters died. Anyway several videos are available so I would pick a live (concert) version. Maybe Disiple or the official video of the song Evolve. Peace ya'll!

It's a great display of all their musical talents, especially the bass. After that give Nothing To Gein a listen and be sure to read into the background beforehand as it makes the lyrics easier to understand. I agree to some extent, but this song is. Used to think it was just noise as a teenager, and wrote off this band. But as I grew wiser, I realized I was wrong and this song is great. Might not be everyone's taste but it is great regardless. Also gets me in a right headspace at the gym, so that helps lol
@teensymom1420 Жыл бұрын
Nope, not my kind of thing but I respect the diversity. I like some metal but this just sounds like screaming/headache inducing sound with a few guitar licks thrown in for good measure. But to each their own. Given they have sold 6 million albums, there are many that like them and I respect them for that. For me, songs have to have a beat and a rhythm regardless of what genre they are classified in.
@unholydiver1095 Жыл бұрын
I used to think that a couple years ago as a teenager, but as I grew wiser, I began to appreciate it more and now really like the song. Amazing listen to when you are at the gym btw. Been starting to revisit the songs I didn't like as a teenager that are praised now that my music taste is becoming more diverse, and now realize what made the songs great. Back then my music tastes were a lot simpler
@Roderik95 Жыл бұрын
You don't hear a beat and rhythm in this song? Your bias against the harsh vocals are showing I think. I bet if you listened to this track without vocals you wouldn't come to the same conclusion.
