was about minus 1 but was really really! good weather wasn't a drop of wind ;-) I would make sure ya hot thermals spare socks and a good sleeping bag, I used a 900 down bag and was comfy as, plus water was frozen up there so had to melt snow for drink ;-) be so worth it u won't regret

good stuff mate! In your opinion what do you reckon it would be like camping in winter nearby (assuming good weather)
@davidhole82295 жыл бұрын
It's most likely snow covered up there like in vid and if weather isn't as mint as it was when I was there then there's many more things to prepare for... Wind could be high... And cold will be extreme.. Not fun hiking down if the body is sore and not in top form from a crap nights sleep... I had a comfort rated sleeping bag of - 15 and was toasty up there... (1000) doller bag... Hut is worth every penny to enjoy the stay to be honest.... Best hike and few days of my life still to the day right now... Sorry late reply

anybody planning a winter trek up for 2017?? getting the itch to challenge it again!!

Hi David.. awesome video man. I'm planning to go to Muller Hut in the end of august. How much experience is needed to make this track safely? Does it require major climbing? Sooo keen to go;-)

heading up there solo in a couple of weeks for a few nights was there any gas? or cooking equipment
@davidhole82298 жыл бұрын
there was gas which was strange because I heard its normally off for winter....was no pots or cups...we're a couple bowls but at that time snow needed melting for water so were in high demand ;-) your going to love the veiw :-) so worth it!!!

Zen Bayno hi....sorry late reply....i took "back country" dry food packs for the weight...just add hot water and its a resonable good feed....pot for boiling water and a very small gas cooker incase there bottles wernt up there...had water for hike up and boiled snow to make water up there as the water tank freezes up...headlamp with spare batteries is a must and crampons is also a must...ice pick came in handy ...mornings the top layer of snow is nice n.crunchy to get a hold on....later in day it gets a bit to mushy....harder treking....spare clothes..thermals ....socks! and a sleeping.bag to handle sub zero temps......go pro camera and a location becon just incase as i was by myself...hard hike with 18kg in the bag ....would have been straight after second big snow dump so took me 7hours....not super fit so im sure others are faster ....magical up there!

Mate I'm planning to hike this on my own mid august! Is it safe enough on your own?
@davidhole82295 жыл бұрын
It's not as safe on your own.... I did a bunch of research and even downloaded a guys GPS tracking points incase I couldn't see the markers for the track.... I went on my own and can say the step part zigzagging up snow face had me a bit nervous... Ice pick came in handy and made me feel like I could help myself out.... Take a personal locator beacon!!! Always a must!! Hire one for 20 bucks ya never know! It won't work if buried in snow so keep that in mind if needed
@davidhole82295 жыл бұрын
I would say do it! You won't regret it, I did it! and been a popular place you are likely to see other hikers so not super alone 😉

@@davidhole8229 Mate the weather was too shit when I went unfortunately so I couldn't do it. I ended up going and doing Brewster hut a couple of days ago and that was pretty unreal covered in snow!

Hey mate! Planning on climbing this in mid-July. Do you reckon an Ice axe is 100% necessary? How steep does it the track get up to the hut?
