This movie just seems like a huge nothing burger to me, Mufasa always seemed like 1 of those great characters that didn’t really need an origin story, we didn’t need to see him young and devoid of the amazing personality we know him for, kinda like how I don’t need to see the origin story of Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda, because I think it’s safe to say that because he’s younger he’s not gonna be *anything* like the Mufasa we all know and love, in which case why would we wanna see it? Obviously I don’t know for sure because I haven’t seen it yet but this movie just seems so…pointless to me

I've seen the movie, and it's Amazing! As someone who watched all the Movies+ the tv show. I think it's really great. I have to say, this guy who thinks the songs should've been taken out Is a bit wrong because lion king is known for its music. Taking it out would be like Mulan and that was SUCH A BAD LIVE ACTION MOVIE.

The canon killed it, like how Scar's betrayal almost killed Mufasa but somehow Mufasa would let Scar anywhere near Simba in the first movie makes no sense at all And Kiara having a brother makes the whole Lion King 2 Simbas Pride storyline irrelevant now Songs were not that good either, Lin Manuel couldve focused on Moana 2 instead which had no good songs at all

For how it handles Mufasa’s backstory story, I’d argue that why it’s done that way is because this is mainly connected for The Lion King remake compared to The Lion Guard where you would learn about Mufasa’s past in one of the episodes as it’s more connected to the cartoon
@nomadicgamer946621 күн бұрын
I'm absolutely planning on seeing it. And can we just agree that this realistic art style really works for the LK universe? I think it does and I could not agree with you more with your sentiments about people being negative about the visuals. Big F you to them, honestly. It looks gorgeous and beautiful and it works!! I already love LK, I love the animated, I love the 2019 version, too. So, odds of me liking this one is already pretty high. And it's possible to love all three versions at the same time! Crazy, I know. But .. also: talk of retconning stuff - Disney's been doing that since 98. The cub was always supposed to be a son and the sequel kind of pokes and mocks people who originally thought that, but why wouldn't they as every book that ever came out in 94 said it was a future king. Also, the name Taka came from a bookset called LK: Six New Adventures where, once again, Simba has a son and not a daughter. So ... this retcon of the two brothers only being brothers by spirit, in a way - I don't know how I feel about it yet as I need to see how they're going to explain it. If it's a good reason, I can be ok with it. If not, it's whatever. Just like the retcon son with a shoe-horned in daughter. If you don't like something, you don't have to accept it.

Not gonna lie, I actually enjoyed it. The number one thing they definitely did better this time around were the animals' facial expressions. They actually had a lot more visual personality this time and I loved how they incorporated their growls, roars, groaning, and grunting into their dialogue and feelings. Why Jon Favreau couldn't do this in the original is BEYOND ME. Movie's solid.
@tonythomas684719 күн бұрын
Truely agree. I personally felt like Disney did ground breaking achievement in the character designs and their visual representations compared to the first one. Each animal had a soul in their performance especially considering that they don't get any exaggeration liberties like in the 2D animation.

@johncampea i get what you're saying when it comes to the whole Scar and Mufasa not being brothers thing but when you say that it retcons the original movie. It does not because this is a prequel to the 2019 remake not the original so you can watch the original with the mentality that they're blood related all you want since in that movie that's never confirmed. Also if you remember the 2019 remake when Mufasa confronts Scar Zazu does say that he should have been banished a long time ago but Mufasa insists on keeping him around and they also do say that in the same movie that Scar has challenged Mufasa and has always lost. Now I will say that I have not seen this movie yet so idk how it ends between the two but I'm just saying that in terms of it retconning the original movie it doesn't affect it at all since both this and the 2019 movie are their own separate universe

The songs, but ESPECIALLY the lyrics, really took the movie down for me. I kinda liked the story, but the songs were downright cringeworthy at certain points. These were songs written for children, while that was not the case with original Lion King score by Elton John. Bye bye and the Brother song especially were hard to sit through.

I'd just got out of Mufasa and thought it was enjoyable. It is better than the 2019 Lion King and can say Milele and Always Wanted a Brother were the better songs. I said to my friend after seeing the movie, “Disney has fallen completely in the music department with this movie. The songs were terrible. I had a feeling from the original that they weren't blood brother so I googled it a decade ago, I learned they don't really have brothers. Lions move on and usually only one male in the pride. Yes I have seen it, the storyline was a little fast and a little rushed but I can bypass that. I thought it was amazingly great. You just have to accept that it's a different franchise from the cartoon. Again in the lion guard they explain how he got his scar and it's not the same as the Mufasa movie. I pretty much knew they were probably going to explain the scar so I decided going into the movie that this was a separate franchise from the cartoon. When I try to combine the two it bothers me kind of like you said. When I think of them as two separate franchises though I don't have any problem with it other than I was expecting a big fight between Mufasa and Scar at the end, again not in the 2019 version but in the live-action, "temper temper I wouldn't dream of challenging you again. In the cartoon he just says I wouldn't dream of challenging you but in the live-action he puts the word again into the sentence and so putting it as two separate cannons. If this is a prequel based on the live-action remake. Mufasa and Scar was supposed to challenge each other and Scar was supposed to lose but because scar needs to stick around for the first movie Mufasa would show him Mercy at least that's how I interpreted it. Even though Kairos was the main villain. I was expecting one more villain fight between Scar and Mufasa after Kiros died. Other than adding that at the end it was a good movie.

Hamilton was great, In the heights was mid, his song for new Little Mermaid was trash and now another bomb. He’s really still coasting on his Hamilton success and Moana to a point, but even then he had help from Polynesian musicians as well.
@desdar10018 күн бұрын
@similarrose5811 Encanto love it or hate it is one of the biggest modern-day Disney tracks, and was even more so than Moana which is now a billion dollar franchise because of the love of that first movie. The Little mermaid already had a preconceived soundtrack that was already iconic and the scuttlebutt regardless of how people didn't like it was not the reason people didn't have interest in seeing an already controversial film. If you remove his contributions from the original stuff he's worked on all you really have from a musical standpoint our wish and more recently Moana 2 which were both to cry for not having his presence. Even the music from Mufasa is doing pretty well for itself so it's not like he's lost any spark IMHO. I'm not saying he needs to be on everything, but he's been carrying the Disney musical on his back along with the Lopez's
