Once again, Brad inserting himself in the thumbnail is more entertaining than the actual film.

I was genuinely confused when I saw Barry Jenkins was directing Mufasa... and then I remembered directing a major Disney film probably paid more than everything else he has done combined and then multiplied several times over. Take that paycheck, save enough to secure a comfy retirement, buy something nice, and then go back to making stuff that wins awards.

"Timon and Pumbaa sink this movie hard." Totally agree. I think Doug Walker said it best in his Frozen 2 review, it's a "character hostage" moment. where the movie is actually getting interesting only for the sidekick character to come up and hold you hostage just to make your five year old laugh. Only unlike most sidekicks or moments where it can be funny or they sneak in a joke that works for the adults, they ruin the flow and make some really touching scenes worse with their presence. Interesting enough, they actually show THRICE in this movie why Kiara was totally fine to cut back to. As she either acts like a child invested in the story and doesn't go too zany or ask too many questions, or she's part of the reason why the scene ends up feeling stronger. SPOILERS: After Kiros (the white lion) attacks the first time, we cut to Kiara getting invested in the story as she says: "Run Mufasa, RUN!" as the chase scene begins. It works there because it shows Kiara, a child, getting invested in the story and feeling like she's there, watching the events unfold. Second time is when she asks Rafiki about the Outsiders and why they want to hurt everyone. And Rafiki gives wise wisdom and they share a bond. (Timon and Pumbaa cut in and even I facepalmed myself when it happened,they ruined a beautiful scene.). Third time is the ending, where Kiara asks Rafiki if she can see her grandfather and he reveals she just has to look to the heavens. And while she runs up Pride Rock, we cut back to Mufasa taking his place as king. And as Mufasa roars to the animals, Kiara roars to the raining skies, as Rafiki told her that's what Mufasa and Simba once did when Simba was young. Kiara then sees her grandfather in the skies and they roar together. It's a touching scene.

The lion king prequel has a White lion? Wow I’m not even a fan of either, but they thought they’d get a Kimba callback without being noticed Never heard of flow, but that looks better than what I thought initially.

me as a super huge Lion King 1994 animated that is the best one to me I remember sitting down in the theathers when I was invited to watch Mufasa The Lion king I had the bad feeling low expections as 2019 Lion King that I didn't like at all so lifeless not fun and be prepared so bad in that one. I found myself suprise to find the new one a fine movie I liked went better for me with facial expressions original story with Mufasa to me it's not a top favorite I watch from Disney but I'm glad it hasn't been as bad as the 2019 Lion King was for me.

I still really appreciate that 'Mufasa' actually HAS Kiara so she could hear this story, because it can STILL lead into 'Simba's Pride'. She's luckier than Scamp to have even BEEN in the ending of the remake, because in the end of 'Lady and the Tramp', HE was GONE:/ But since they chose to do this instead (at least for now) they couldn't have used 'We Are One'?! The best lyrics in it work JUST as well for little Mufasa as they do for Kiara! "We are one, you and I, we are like the earth and sky One family under the sun All the wisdom to lead, all the courage that you need You will find when you see we are one' 🥰🥰🥰🥰 And speaking OF 'Simba's Pride', I seriously hope Disney remembers that Neve Campbell was Kiara...she'd bring in WAY more viewers these days with what 'Scream' is now😉

So basically Brad watched a Disney movie and a movie that Disney *might* have made fifty years ago. I don't know why anyone goes and sees Disney movies any more, and putting these two side by side is pretty much my argument. "Well, we could go see a beautifully crafted film full of emotion and suspense, or we could watch a "live action" prequel to a movie I saw when I was eight."

Timon and Pumbaa didn't need to appear in "MUFASA" at all, and I didn't see it. And did Disney think they could get away with making the villain a WHITE lion? And does this mean "Scar" really was the rightful heir to the "throne"?

The Lion King was my favorite animated movie as a child so I was totally skied to see the Lion King (live action) really CGI version last time but was actually disappointed by it once I saw it for myself and now this movie is just more of the same thing I Don't know if I'll see it or not but Honestly I'm more excited to see Nosferatu instead so maybe I'm just growing up or something 🤷🙄
@user-dr2yz8um3d8 күн бұрын
4/5 Finally got around to seeing this There’s no doubt the CGI looks very impressive, this shows an exploration of masculinity, the only true bond being blood, royalty not associating with outsiders, is deceit a fool of a king?, we shouldn’t let our tribes divide us, reminding us of the cycle of life, destiny, family, and circumstances shaping who we are I also appreciate there’s sprinkles of Hans Zimmer’s original score in here and they keep the African cultural influence It’s interesting to know too that Mufasa wasn’t the only one to be perceived as an outcast Although ay times it may be bland and overly dramatic given it’s in the shadow of a far superior film The songs by Lin Manuel Miranda are okay at best and not as memorable Plus it’s jarring having Timon & Pumba insert themselves randomly The film still is nicely paced and these characters show a lot more personality thanks to the voice actors giving nice emotional beats It’s refreshing to have a new story too expanding the lore while also looking beautiful A decent origin story for sure but not perfect
