It's freaky that he had the same spiritual awakening as Qadi Iyaad 🙂 I wonder how many other figures became religious via drunken "ecstacy"? It also makes me appreciate the wisdom of not outright condemning alcohol the same way as other haraams such as murder, because alcohol was the mechanism that had enabled this transformation.
