Asaalamu alaikum Mufti! I have a question ya akhi... I'm slightly confused about the issue of public Sadaqah, I am of the understanding that I (we) are supposed to give in secret. I also don't wish to humiliate or embarrass anyone. However in this new age of social media, there seems to be an influx of people doing charitable acts on camera. My question is , would it be okay to broadcast my giving online for people to donate or help or am I supposed to keep it between me and Allah SWT?

It is more preferred to keep it to yourself 100% to protect you from pride however small, but if it happens to be broadcast without your knowledge it is fine. But it's more beloved to god to keep it hidden. I am no scholar and might be lacking in this topic. May Allah protect us from false information. Amen
