If we were living with the prophet -abuh- now, will we be in the city of Islam, Medinah, or will we be in Mecca before 'higra'? Will we be Ethopia, living under the rule of a just Christian king, or will we be in the tribal alliances of Quriash or under its 'code red'? Do the shariah laws differ in each of these contexts? Eg. 'constraining the gaze', isn't this a civil-islamic instruction that was ordained in Medinah? What did Muslims do in a different context, were they instructed to control their gaze in Mecca or develop their night prayer and moral-spiritual belief in the enlightening divine? What is the 'tazkiyah' priority in a certain context? Is it like another? Or is it whatever you can do? Is this smart and guided? Does it even define true prudence, priority and piety? Or is it just dogmatic or traditional?
