She probably read the prices of things on the mandatory equipment list as I'm sure the ministry pays the tuition for example some wands are like I dunno wizards money 10 million gold and maybe silver to us THAT TO US IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PAY EVEN FOR ROYALS YES THEY WOULD HAVE IT slightly easier but that much EVEN THEY WOULD STRUGGLE TO PAY FOR THAT however translated into our money it's like 10-20pound
