Idk if this wasn't said in the anime, but in the manga after Ali Jr was beaten by Baki, Baki himself said that he NEEDED to end it quickly since a single punch from Ali Jr would knock him out cold, those same punches sent Shibukawa and Orochi to sleep, if Baki had made a single mistake with his combo that beat Ali Jr, then Ali would have gotten the chance to attack and knock out Baki.

Ali Jr whole existence was only for the writer to show us the difference between a sportsman and a warrior. Ali jr was strong as a sportman but he never actually had even one real fight, a fight where if he lost he would have died and that made him extremely fragile. Even Baki's girlfriend didn't see him as a man but more as a pathetic crying child that needed a mother to love him, which made her mother instinct flare up.

Ali Jr. was an interesting character to start, but as the story went on I realized he wasn't going to win. He focused on Kozue to piss off Baki and tried to act like he was a kind man when really he was a womanizer. Baki, when told about this, said that it was her choice. He didn't fight for the choice he wanted, he just told her that he loved her and that whatever happens happens. That's the essence of Baki and all the best characters. They devote themselves wholeheartedly to something, but they respect it as well. Even dirty fighting is really seen as respect to fighting for your life. Ali Jr was a smartass simp who believed the world was his for the taking, like he was owed it. Bragging nonstop, and there's a big difference between bragging and confidence, Baki is confidence and unbeatable will. Ali was pissing his pants before the fight even started and didn't know if he'd win, but didn't absorb the gravity of losing. A man not ready to lose will never win

I read the manga and if I remember correctly right before the Baki vs Ali jr fight doppo and the rest are questioning if they trained him enough. They wanted to train him for this fight and this they had to bring him down to his worst and then some. I'll admit they did him dirty, but he lost that fight due to his own nerves getting to him. I think he was after Kozue just to piss off Baki, so Baki would fight him. Then he went and challenged all the people who are Baki's friends/rivals/family members, who have some connection to Baki, to understand Baki's power and fighting style. Everything he did was so he could fight Baki. Ali's Jr's focus wasn't Kozue, it was Baki. I also hated how he kept telling Kozue that she was going to be his wife, as if she had no say in the matter, while telling her it was up to her. If that were the case, he would have backed off when she said no. He was both creepy and cocky, and I loved watching him get his ass kicked.
