I take my hat off to all other great champions, but the GOAT among GOATs must belong to one. It belongs to none other than the Louisville lip, the people's champion, the greatest to ever put on the gloves, MUHUMMAAAAD ALIIIIIII!!!!!!!! You wanna talk about achievements, and this man has it in spades - he won more than 100 amateur bouts and lost less than 8 - before the age of 18, he went on to win six Kentucky Golden Gloves titles - 1959's National Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight Champion - 1959's National Amateur Athletic Union champion - 1960's National Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight Champion - 1960's National Amateur Athletic Union champion - Won a Gold medal in the Rome Olympics in light-heavyweight boxing - World Heavyweight Champion from 1964-1967 - AT 22 YEARS, HE WAS THE YOUNGEST BOXER TO UNSEAT A REIGNING HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION - He defeated Sony Liston even after the odds were 7-1. No one sees a 7-1 odds, and it was deemed one of the greatest upsets of all time. Before Andy Ruiz, before, Buster Douglas. - Sports Illustrated magazine ranked Clay's victory as the fourth greatest sports moment of the 20th century - 1970's Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Award - Muhammad Ali's rematch with Sonny Liston ended in K.O. within ONE ROUND - 1974's Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year - 1974's Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year - Fastest hand speed of any heavyweight in his era and possibly of all time - In 1974, Ali participated in "The Longest Walk," a protest march in the United States in support of Native American rights. - 1974's Fighter of the Year, Boxing Writers Association - World Heavyweight Champion from 1974-78 - He fought the fight of the century against Joe Frazier; although he lost, it was rated by many as the biggest sporting event in history - That didn't keep Ali down. Even the greatest have lost before. In his rematch with Joe, Ali won via unanimous decision. - To settle it once and for all Frazier and Ali got for the trilogy. They put their lives on the line and empty the tank. We knew once and for all who's the better man. Ali's declared the winner in one of his best performances yet. - The Thrilla in Manila is rated one of the best fights of all time and won the Peabody Award - And we can't ever forget his historic performance against George Foreman. Sony Liston was the only man to put him on the backfoot, and Ali KO'd him within one round. George Foreman, considered by many as one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history. Known as The Rumble in the Jungle, Ali came into the fight as a 4-1 underdog but won by knockout, putting Foreman down just before the end of the eighth round. - The Rumble in the Jungle was watched by OVER 1 BILLION viewers worldwide. - The Rumble in the Jungle is also famous for Ali's introduction of the rope-a-dope tactic, in which he leaned against the ropes and absorbed punches from his opponent. This decreased his chances of being caught with a clean blow and, at the same time, tired his opponent. The Rumble in the Jungle has also been called "arguably the greatest sporting event of the 20th century". By winning it, Ali became the world heavyweight champion for a second time. - Again World Heavyweight Champion from 1978-79 - Ali revolutionized the sport with his creative tactics, hand speed, and ring I.Q. - Never ducked anyone and wanted to FIGHT the best to B.E. the best - Ali was the FIRST man in history to win the heavyweight titles three times - 1978, 1974, and 1973's BBC Sports Personality World Sport Star of the Year - Ali was a leading heavyweight boxer of the 20th century, and he remains the only three-time lineal champion of that division. - His joint records of beating 21 boxers for the world heavyweight title and winning 14 unified title bouts stood for 35 years - His refusal to participate in Vietnam made him an icon for many people - He's a prominent humanitarian and activist - 1979's Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, Texas Southern Univesity - Destroyed Patterson, another Hall of Famer - 1978. February 15, Ali lost the heavyweight title to Leon Spinks in a split decision. September 15, Ali wins the heavyweight title back from Leon Spinks after a battle at the Superdome in New Orleans. - 1979 Street named after him in Louisville, Kentucky - Ali won 56 times in his 21-year professional career - 1979, 1976, 1975, Milliyet Sports Award for World Athlete of the Year - 1984's Male Athlete of the Year courtesy of associated sports - He donated millions of dollars to charity organizations, and it is estimated that he helped provide food for more than 22 million people affected by hunger across the world. - He also featured as an actor and writer, releasing two best-selling autobiographies - 1985 Recognized for long, meritorious service, World Boxing Association - 1987 Elected to Boxing Hall of Fame - In 1988, he visited Sudan to raise awareness about the plight of famine victims. The following year, he participated in a charity event in Kerela, an Indian state - 1990 Inducted into International Boxing Hall of Fame - Ali attained success as a musician, where he received two Grammy nominations - In 1990, he traveled to Iraq to secure the release of 15 U.S. hostages during the First Gulf War. - In 1994, he campaigned to urge the United States government to come to the aid of refugees afflicted by the Rwandan genocide. - 1996 He Lights Olympic torch in Atlanta - 1997 Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, ESPN - 1997 Essence Living Legend Award - In 1998, he collaborated with actor Michael J Fox to raise awareness and fund research for Parkinson's disease. - In 1998, Ring Magazine named him number 1 in its ranking of greatest heavyweights from all eras. - In 1999, The Associated Press voted Ali the No. 1 heavyweight of the 20th century. - In 1999, Ali was named the "Greatest Heavyweight Boxer of all Time" and "The Greatest Athlete of the 20th Century" by the popular magazine Sports Illustrated. - The same year, in a poll conducted by the BBC, Muhammad Ali was named the Sports Personality of the Century. He accumulated more votes than the combined total of the five other contenders: Pele, George Best, Donald Bradman, Jack Nicklaus, and Jesse Owens. - In 2007, ESPN ranked him second in its choice of the greatest heavyweight fighter of all time - The BET Humanitarian Award (2002) - In 2002, he traveled to Afghanistan as the "U.N. Messenger of Peace" for a three-day goodwill mission. He also made goodwill missions to Afghanistan and North Korea; and delivered medical supplies to an embargoed Cuba. - The Bambi Millennium Award (2003) - He was named "The Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year" a record six times. An honor no other fighter in history has. - The president's award- NAACP Award (2009) - Boxing commentators and historians regard Muhammad Ali as one of the greatest fighters of all time. - In 2015, Sports Illustrated renamed its "Sportsman Legacy Award" to the "Sports Illustrated's Muhammad Ali Legacy Award" to honor his boxing and social achievements. This man was a true inspiration inside and outside the ring! A GOAT among GOATS The best to ever to do it It's an honor to call him The Greatest Of All Time Rest Easy Champ

If you want to lose your soul and freedom vote for Mohammed. .Mohammed's real name was Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. His Father's name was Cassius Marcellus Clay Sr... His GrandFather named his son Cassius Marcellus Clay due to his admiration of Cassius Marcellus Clay a nicknamed the "Lion of White Hall", was a Kentucky planter, politician, and emancipationist who worked for the abolition of slavery. He freed the slaves that were handed down as his inheritance from his father. It was a name of honor. But instead Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. changed his name to Mohammed Ali after a white African slave merchant that captured enslaved and sold his ancestors around the world and Islam's followers are holding 27 million slaves today.

Michael Stein he traded a name of honour to another name of honour. What’s your point? Muhammad is a name of honour in Islam. And plus get away with that islamophobic shit. Fact is he got off lucky, anyone else that dodged the draft like he did went to prison, but he didn't. As a celebrity he would've been given a safe, easy job much like Elvis was. He was a great fighter but I just dont and never have agreed with all his anti-American rhetoric while he was simultaneously living the American dream.
@jessicapeace3981 Жыл бұрын
@@matposton87 I think you missed the whole point of why he refused to go. And even if he had a celebrity status, he was still black and at a very different time than now. This was a civil rights movement. At a time when vocal black people was being assassinated. He wasn't scared of dying. He wanted rights, and not just for him, for all black people. He used his platform and status to stand up knowing very well he could be the next black person in America with the target on their head. Might as well stand up for what's right and what you believe in and die on American soil than go to a war that has nothing to do with you and take a bullet there. If you truly believe he would've gotten a gravy job being a celebrity, you've got to admit, he took a bigger chance by standing up and chancing assassination than going to war then.

I was blessed to meet Ali at a banquet, Mapledale, and honored by his signing my boxing gloves. I truly love him, respect his ability and titles and especially his humor and compassion. He certainly was right, that as he liked to say himself, he was the champion, and a handsome one. May we always cherish his memory, and may his family be blessed by Most High Creator!! Love forever, Louisville KY lip!

For me the most impressive and inspiring thing about Ali isn’t his, speed, his moves, his sharp tongue. The most impressive thing about Ali was his will power and spirit. The man was an immovable object and a vicious unstoppable force. One of the greatest men of character there has ever been.
