I’ve been there twice. Amazing and beautiful. I wish I could bottle the scent in he air and smell it every morning, and evening. Truly a unique and wonderful place.

Taking my dad here for his first time this weekend and we’re so excited!

Hope you and your dad had an amazing visit. Those woods are sacred, and came so very close to being erased from existence like 95% of old growth redwoods. So grateful they have been preserved for our benefit.

We’re always so grateful that some of these places survived. It’s a glimpse into the true character of the places we all live. And perhaps inspires us to restore what we can. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!!

Hi! Thank you for your excellent educational video. Do you know of a cheap place to stay near those woods and do you know if there are any shuttle buses or other forms of public transportation to and from the woods?
@homeinwildspaces2 жыл бұрын
There is a shuttle system, but the only cheap places to stay would be in campgrounds in and around Golden Gate National Recreation Area. If you're into camping, you've got it made. Though I don't know who well connected the shuttle system is to the various campgrounds.

I’m visiting San Francisco this summer and I want to go to both Muir Woods and Yosemite. It looks cool, the only thing I’d be concerned About is bears and mountain lions lol
@homeinwildspaces3 жыл бұрын
Not much of a chance of confronting a bear or mt lion in Muir Woods, but it's always a good idea to prepare for the possibility.

how beautiful! how do you think Muir Woods is in November? Thinking of a quick trip for thanksgiving weekend. Do you think it's too cold?
@homeinwildspaces4 жыл бұрын
Can't say for certain. Muir Woods is super close to the coast where the temperatures are more temperate. Might want to check with the park service. We've been there while it's foggy. It can be chilly. Hope that helps!

Most likely foggy and chilly. Wear a coat.

you were in our neighborhood!! we are across the Bay, can see Mt Tam from home.. Awesome job with the video, my little camera does not do well in the lighting here. We used t ogo more often, went right before they started the reservation system // so nice over there, will have to try the shuttle and check it again soon but thanks for getting us out there this way...

Forest lighting is hard. We too tend to struggle, but have mad some progress over the years. Super cool that you live so close. What an amazing area! We were able to get a parking reservation minutes before our arrival at Muir Woods. We were probably fortunate, since we went in the middle of the week. Let us know what your experience is with the shuttle system. P.S. The next day we took a trip out the the Farallon Islands. Ever been? We loved it. Video upcoming.

What's the name of the trail in the video?
@homeinwildspaces3 жыл бұрын
No single trail. There are roughly 6 miles of trails in Muir Woods, we hiked 5 of them. Those trail miles are represented here.

This is my favorite place to be in the world. It is always a restorative for my soul, the one that can lose hope sometimes for the insanity of the human world and its fixations with simple formulaic entertainment. Besides the enlightened humans who stepped forward to save this area's trees. we must give thanks for the difficult terrain that made harvesting very difficult in the days when the forest was being raped for profit. // In the present I find it lamentable that very loud tourists carry on as if they were at a football game. No respect.

We very much agree. We are very grateful to those who have labored to save these remarkable trees, and for those who know the value of unplugging and reconnecting with these amazing places. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts!
