Well I am 77 and she's been scaring the life out of me. I must be one of the original students of Stefan Grossman and Rory Block's first teach yourself country blues educational LPs (with tab). What stands out for me is that she has not shied away from playing the songs as intended which is somewhat more challenging. Both Donovan and Stefan Grossman and probably others recorded simplified versions of Candyman, while Muireann Bradley has included some of the added improvisation von Rev Gary Davis.

Watched this live in the early hrs. Jools as always the perfect host & some great performances from his ensemble of stellar guests on the 2 hr Annual Hootenanny, but in the course of a mesmerising 3 mins 45 secs, this gifted 16 yr old stole the show. Such a fabulous, relaxed & wonderfully self-assured performance. Expect to see Muireann Bradley at Glastonbury - & everywhere - in 2024.

I'm sure the Bradley phone lines are overheating & as mentioned, it's probably a no-brainer that Michael/Emily Eavis will snap her up for this yr's Glastonbury, may well have done already in the past 24h. Kind of hope though that they don't go for the obvious fit of the acoustic stage, because if it's the same as 2022 Glasto, the BBC's impressive array of continuous live streams didn't quite extend to having a dedicated one for the acoustic stage. Would be fabulous if they went for something like West Holts or Other Stage (or, dare I suggest, Pyramid). So many more people around the world would get to see this wonderfully talented young lady.

Been watching this”unknown” kid just absolutely KILLLLLLLL it on KZbin for the last few years. Pleasantly surprised to see she was on JOOLS show. She deserves to make it big. For those who don’t know, her style of playing pays homage to so many great delta blues and ragtime/folk players. This style of playing IS NOT EASY AT ALL!
