The chicken looks absolutely amazing, and being Puerto Rican, I grew up on platanos (Fried plantains), I don't know if that's how you spell it but that's what we called them heh. I wish I had grown up in PR, but no, grew up in East Coast US. We often had things like this at home for dinner. Rice, beans (Not a big fan of beans, but slowly being re-introduced to them in better ways than just boiled), fried plantains, chicken, usually fried. Big occasions we'd have a whole pig roasted over open flame. My favorite thing in the world, was when my abuelita (grandmother), sent us packages from PR. She would make pasteles, which are like... mashed plantains or something, formed into a rectangle with meat, veggies, olives (Pit and all!) and adobo inside the middle of it, then it's wrapped in a banana leaf, then wrapped in I think wax paper, tied closed with a string and then boiled until cooked. I haven't had pasteles since she passed away though. :( And the candy from PR! Oh wow... sesame seed candy, almost tasted like honey with toasted sesame seeds, formed into small little rectangles... I really miss those. Fruit was great from PR too, we'd get these little fruits (I think they were fruits.) called quenepas, probably not how you spell it... but they were nice and sweet, even if they left the mouth a little dry after. Videos with 'latin' food always make me so homesick, but not in a bad way. :) Thanks for this trip down memory lane. ^_^ Please talk all you like, I personally enjoy when people talk about themselves and their experiences. :)

I'm glad someone likes it. ^_^ Yes, it's very similar to Cuban quisine. :) PR is technically in the Caribbean, in fact if you listen to Marc Anthony's song 'Preciosa', he mentions it being 'Isla del Caribe', which translates to Island of the Caribbean. :D My father was born there, in PR, in the mountains of Barranquitas. He owns land there, as a matter of fact... Though dangerously bad reactions to extreme temperatures makes it impossible for me to ever visit. :( But he used to show me pictures of his farm, the house (made entirely of concrete!), the animals... and the fruit trees! So many bananas, mangos, papayas... something called a Chironja which is kind of a cross between an orange and a grapefruit. Very yummy! As an aside little bit of trivia! Did you know that Puerto Rico was full of 'native' folk called the Taino... Something like the Native Americans of the US. They ended up erm... co-mingling... with people from Spain? I thought it was so interesting to learn that. :D Finally, my dad used to make us these little flour fritters called Bacalaitos, which is a take on bacalao, which is catfish... we didn't have access to fish, so he just mixed flour, water, adobo and sazon and fried up little fritters out of it. Veeeery tasty, I highly recommend trying it. Though I'd use a lighter oil than we did, make it a touch healthier maybe?
