The most advanced nanotechnology is present in Asia, specifically China, with Dutch technology. It would be awesome that the US government could revoke the sanctions against Chinese semiconductors and start working side by side to bring the shortage to an end. I mean, IBM can still work directly with ASML but it has to be recognized that the highest volume of production of the most advanced technology available regarding nano-chips has tons of relevant data, about the process itself and the challenges the whole production process imply in real-world scenarios. That data is too valuable to go to waste, and can save billions and many years of research by having access and just paying attention to it. Hopefully, the US will back down at some point, and will recognize Taiwan as part of China. Imagine having IBM, ASML and TSMC working together with Chinese and American governments backing up the whole endeavor, assuring a degree of technical integrity and a constant flow of investment for decades to come. That would be really awesome. "Collecting data is just the first step towards wisdom, but sharing data is the first step towards community". - IBM, Prodigy (Linux Ad)
