Great response Muk! I think many GW2 players watched The Lazy Peon's video and was frustrated about the lack of information. I know in MightyTeapot also remarked on this in his latest stream, but thank you for taking the time to clarify things.

Think the best thing to take away from his vid is how bad gw2 is at informing and teaching new players all the actually important systems and such. Too much information is either hidden or not out in the open. Hell learning about the wiki timers entirely transformed the experience for one of my friends who started playing recently. Same with how important achievements are, since he came from WoW where they are just fluff titles and maybe cosmetics if lucky. That is something I'd see more focus on, a good new-player introduction to systems and so on.

so true. I stopped watching his content soon after he started branching out of wow as he goes into everything in a wow mindset as he is a wow main gamer. And because he just looks at the other games with face value, it becomes super annoying and ignorant.

He should probably stick to Ashes of Creation videos since that's obviously the one game he is the most passionate about.

To be honest, the game does not make it super obvious, what the major changes are and if you have inventory full of random shit the game showers you with, you can miss it. It is like they expect that the game is played only by seasoned players. I know that It is frustrating for anyone who plays the game regularly, but this is the experience of new or returning players.

@@HarmonyOfTheVoice It is obviously completly fine that you and lazy peon do not like guild wars 2, like you said its not for everyone, however it is not true that the guild wars population is dwindeling. Yes some people quit as they always do and some people start plaing it. The guild wars 2 population, while obviously tiny compared to wow or FF14 is quite stable. In my opionion the story got a lot better with Secrets of the obscure, but i agree that earlier story lines were quite boring at times. As for why you (as in anyone) should play content like raids etc. Easy do it if you enjoy it. If you dont that is totally valid and fine, then that content or maby guild wars 2 in gernerell isnt the game for you. I play that content because i really enjoy the guild wars 2 combat system and because of that i enjoy most of the content i play.

Another couple weird things he seemed to not know about but also somewhat showed on screen, was that he complained about having to fork over a ton of gold to get new decent gear, after he showed on screen that you can get ascended gear super easy through the wizard's vault just doing dailies and weeklies. Then in addition to legendary gear on his inventory complaint with having alternate gear sets, is that he can also just load up gear templates to instantly swap, and it keeps those extra sets of gear out of his bags.

To be fair, I have a similar complaint. This game is all about buildcraft, but getting the new stat combos CAN be pricey. The Wizards Tower gives you a few pieces but in-game there's no easy way to get the stats you want unless you grind Verdant Brink a lot. I always thought there should be karma RARE stat selectable gear that has every stat combo for a couple thousand karma a piece. You're gimped but it lets people buildcraft before buying exotic or getting/altering ascended. This game has no easy way to buildcraft for little cost other than maybe PvP. It really should.

@@hardy83 Tanetris' "So You Want To Gear a Character" guide has loads of options for stat-selectable exotic armor. And even if you ignore that, there's an argument to be made that you can always pick up a full set of Berserker exotic gear from the TP for less than 10g and be ready to do end-game content as power dps role. Yes, it will not allow you to play as a healer or boon dps (except qherald right now maybe), but it is absolutely viable for an insanely cheap price, and you can slowly grind towards your preferred role.

@@hardy83 End of dragons locking Ritualist and Dragon stats out of stat selectable for a while was annoying, yes, but SOTO hasn't even introduced a stat combination so there's no reason to fork up tons of gold for that right now. Runes are also mostly cheap and everyone got some free relics either from the update or just from soto story itself. Also, for stat selectables you got OPTIONS: 1: verdant brink. 2. crafting lunatic gear (halloween based) or directly the stat you want.3. PvP season boxes for warlord set exotics and some reward tracks reward selectable gear as well (crystal desert armor box, for example) 4. you can get gear in WvW, though there are better things to spend those currencies on given how much more time gated wvw pips are than spvp season pips. 5. some weapons and specific items are buyable with stat selectable, like iron legion weapon set. It only gets a bit more time consuming to get ascended, because exotics are easy. exception of course for ascended trinkets (amulets, rings, backpieces...) those can be harder or very easy to get depending what you do. You like living world? great, easiest ascended backpieces ever. You spend Astral acclaim on laurels? good, now you can buy those laurel trinkets if you want. etc. The hardest equipment to get, imo, is very specific stat combination trinkets that are harder to get as stat selectable and otherwise only available through vendors in expansion/LW. example: plaguedoctors. Of course the easy way out for that issue is to use bloodstone items, mist items and jade mist items, respectively a pve, pvp and wvw way to get stat selectable ascended trinkets that, as a bonus, can be reset to change the stats if you want!

@@hardy83 it cost more at start, but longer you play the cheaper it get, and there is free legendary amulet on achievement and new legendary starter kit on wizard vault to really help start on "endgame" gear. if this game does not have vertical gear progression like on other mmos, atleast there is "easy" ways to aqquire endgame gear what have been there since start. who would play if there is no any gear for grind(legendary/ascend) just for skins?

You know, even if not everyone is enjoying everything about gw2 at the moment, I’m super glad people seem to be checking it out quite a bit right now. I’ve seen a lot of “gw2 in 2023” videos lately, and the game deserves the attention IMO. It’s not for everyone for sure, but I think a lot of the people it is for aren’t aware it’s for them at the moment, so the exposure is nice.

To clarify Mukluk's clarification of world exploration rewards, he said at 9:40 , "There are people who will make new characters, do map exploration, and then they will sell those gifts (of exploration from completing all core Tyria maps) for just tons and tons of in-game money." It should be noted: Those gifts of exploration are account bound and cannot be sold to another player directly. What's more, they require other account bound materials in order to be upgraded to a Gift of Mastery (which is also still account bound). In order to sell it for in-game gold, the player has to essentially provide a service instead of handing the gift over to another player directly. The person who wants to hire someone for this service comes up with a pre-cursor item, all the ingredients for a Gift of Fortune, and all the ingredients for the legendary specific gift required to make the actual Legendary item, and then just mails all that wealth over to the player with the Gift of Mastery. Then the player with the Gift of Mastery fully assembles the pieces into a Legendary item and sends the Legendary back through the mail to the person who is purchasing the service. Then he gets paid for providing his Gift of Mastery. This requires a lot of trust from both parties and most people won't be able to get into this sort of thing to make money themselves without someone else vouching for them, who already does this. It's a very exclusive group of players.

Maybe there's a happy middle ground where an NPC will unlock everything characters in that account have unlocked in the game, but it disables that specific character from getting gift of exploration. But the gem store waypoint unlock will not disable gift of exploration rewards.

Another thing I want to add RE: bag wars 2, every time he shows an inventory and complains about it, I can immediately see white gear that he is never going to need, unopened lootboxes and, as you mentioned, junk items. There are also a lot of un-deposited materials, which I would guess comes from a small mat storage. Which is fine, but you can craft and/or sell that.

something you have to consider about SotO being a "mini" expantion. the first instalment was 10 chapters and there will be 3 more content updates coming through out the next year. that being said EoD was 18 chapters. if the 3 updates just have 3 chapters each it will be longer than EoD.

@@sebastianm7556 give or take. it can't be compared 1 for 1 though. some chapters may be a series of instances and others are open world objectives. for me it took about an hour just to get into the new map. now i explored all the instances, listened to all the conversations, ect. so what each player gets out of it depends on how they play.

Otherwise, more new content, that uses familiar systems: - one new map - 2 strike cm's plus one new fractal (incl. cm) - new weapon proficiency for each class - one additional armor set - new legendary armour - more relics (incl. legendary) - legendary rift enemies Nothing exciting like elite specs, raids, or game-changing features like gliding, mounts or jadebot.

I usually like watching videos on first impressions of gw2 because you get to see a fresh mind diving into this game and experiencing it for the first time, it’s refreshing and they genuinely want to know more about it. However in his case I freaking hated it, not only that he seemed to have played the game long enough to get his characters looking like that and have 96 mastery points, it’s the fact that he has played the game long enough and know completely NOTHING about it and doesn’t even seem interested to even figure it out even if it was right in front of him. He legit gave me a headache lol. He shouldn’t be doing first impression videos if he doesn’t even make an effort to research more about the game, like for god’s sake we have a wiki!

Vipers and berserk works great on my reaper, but reaper is tanky, catalysts can be tanky too, but not the way he played it.

As a 10 year player, I love the Wizard's Vault. The old daily system had so much crap in it, now I'm getting skins, clovers, build template slots, gear template slots, etc. Soooo much better than some T3 crafting bags, luck that I've been capped on for years, transmute charges, etc.

My only issue with the wizards vault is that I wish it would show all objectives from pve, pvp, and wvw and let me do whatever, and just max out rewards from whatever 4 dailies I wind up doing, so it would be similar to the old system. But the rewards are good and the tasks are pretty easy so it's not really a burden. Here's hoping the new weapon choices with the next update are good, pistol on guardian sounds interesting and it needs a good condi ranged weapon

one day, i was watching a runescape 3 review , by lazypeon, he always says that one of the major issues of rs3 is because it's progression is so fast, and then.. he recommeded to play as ironman character ( that has no acess to any trade, auction house or something similar, that has slower progression compared to others normal accounts ). So he started a new character on ironman settings to review the state of rs3 .. and saw that the progression was more slow than it was before ( they nerfed xp gain ) , , he went back to his main maxed account, and sayed that the " fast progression " was something that he liked in rs3 , and now they nerfed it. After this, I cant take his reviews serious.

53:05 The Wizards Vault is locked to level 80. I don't know if 1 lvl 80 Character unlocks it account wide, but if you don't have any max level Character, you can't use it.

1 level 80 is enough. I was doing WV on my lvl 20alt. Esp for dailies like loot 10 enemies or dodge etc.

makes sense, a lot of the dailies and weeklies ask you to do meta events or just kill enemies from max level areas like the awakened and mordrem. the easiest dailies for new accounts are probably pvp because even if you have shit gear and no unlocked elite specs it doesn't matter there. In wvw, despite the level upscalling, gear matters and running core specs is rarely good, except for like, some guardian and necro builds. Though i have seen core rangers and thieves once in a while.

@@CorwynGC you can get stat selectable gear in PvP and WvW. Those are open to all players. The only things that are expansion locked stat wise are account bound crafting materials and vendors from expansions. But you can hear without ever going to an expansion. Harder to do in full PvE only without expansions especially for some stats, but it's doable.

Map completion is my bread and butter with playing GW2, love doing it!! Except for the few stealth and the bunny heart... those are just attrocious. RE: Dagda fight.. Skill issue honestly, not a hard fight or one that requires any specific build - though the build doesn't help.

Yeah, I was pissed because I play weaver, and even though I was a bit rusty, I didn’t have any issues. I still managed to beat her, and I died like 2 times (again I was a bit rusty 😂). The build he was using is just atrocious for survivability, unless you have god level technique using an ele 🙈. It just feels like he doesn’t like the game and no amount of content is gonna convince him otherwise. Honest recommendation? Go full condi in open world (Carrion if you’re short on money, Viper if you can afford it). And if you wanna go power, go Marauder, or Dragon. Also, a lot of things that he didn’t realize I already knew before hitting lvl 80 and before getting to my level of mastery points (247 btw). Not to be an asshole, but I know people with 20-30 mastery points that know better this game than him…

Yeah I get that the EoD strikes were a little too hard for the average person so I get making it a little easier, but they just completely nuked the difficulty. I mean I joined a strike where one of the healers forgot to switch to a healer build so we only played with one healer and we still cleared it with no deaths. That's BAD. It's so easy that I just get bored doing it. Like, they just have a big hp bar, that's it, you're just brainlessly mashing buttons the entire fight. I normally enjoy playing strikes but the SOTO ones feel like such a chore. Just really disappointed by them, I wish they would increase the difficulty in future patches. I feel like the difficulty level in Icebrood Saga strikes were good for the average squad

I like doing map completion. When Ihave particularly stressful times in real life, I do a walkabout and whoever wants to join in walking through the roads of Tyria, just strolling can usually we have to take on the boss but that’s OK. I don’t think enough credit is given to the people who actually designed the look of the game. If you can’t remember, when the last time is you walk through Tyria ,try it. Credit to Goa And Mika who got me into this.

They give you currencies from everywhere that you can turn into gold to buy what you want, or you can turn into the item you want. Guild Wars 3 should be a Single Player Action Adventure Story Driven Game that lets ArenaNet experiment with gameplay not possible in an MMO settings like Guild Wars 2. Another point about gearing for WvW is that it's a different kind of group content. New WvWers aren't expected to immediately fill a role perfectly. A player with full orange and no elite specs can do just fine running with a good group and paying attention to the gameplay. Can that player solo everything? Will that player feel like they're making a huge difference? Not necessarily. Can they have fun, learn the game, and make progress towards higher numbers? Absolutely. imo, having that room to grow feels really good. I get the feeling TheLazyPeon wouldn't like GW3 unless Blizzard makes it...

Your response is great but you need to clarify legendary armor specifically not being universally available to every character and that it depends on the armor weight the class uses. So if you made heavy legendary armor for a warrior or a guardian, you cannot use that armor on your necromancer/mesmer/elementalist as they use light armor. To truly reach universal availability for all classes, you need to craft at least 3 entire sets of legendary armor, one for each armor weight. Legendary accessories and weapons however have no such restrictions, so a lot of people prefer going for those first.

If the ambient chatter annoys you, you can TURN IT OFF. I do. Check your sound settings! You can individually turn off all kinds of NPC voices, special sound effects, music, etc.

You ALWAYS clean up your bags before log out... You never know when you may log out and not log back in for a very, very long time unexpectedly, and then get stuck dealing with a broken brain. For me, the only part of the world completion I want to be account wide is waypoints... Hearts, Vistas, Locations and Hero Points are more than enough for map completion. Separate waypoints off into their own completion/achievement and then make it account wide. I actually really want to play alts... But I don't want to go through and run (ride) to each and every single waypoint again... I also don't want to spend money on unlocking them for every single character!... If you don't have End of Dragons I don't think you can equip one. As well, Jade Bots are PER character, so I think the problem with LazyPeon, is that he said he rerolled from a Warrior, and I wouldn't be surprised if his Warrior had one but didn't realize they weren't account wide and didn't have one for his Elementalist. I can't remember if they are account bound and you can move them around or not.

I totally agree that the game is hard to get into. It finally clicked for me when I came back for SoTo. Its not immediately obvious how to approach the game. The big thing for me and I imagine quite a few new players is gold. You set a goal for ascended gear, legendaries, gryphon & skyscale and you realize just how much gold you need, and all you see is tiny amounts trickle in every day and you get discouraged. It starts to feel like nothing you do matters. Now I know about GW2efficiency and how just playing the content you prefer without rushing for stuff is progressing you. My account value almost doubled since SoTo came out. I got both my gryphon & skyscale, about to craft my first legendary and I'm full ascended trying to see what new build/set I wanna work on. Game is finally fun for me and all it really took was a mindset change. I'll give Anet a big W for the Wizard's vault. This thing gave me most of my ascended gear, lots of liquid gold, a massive headstart on a legendary I wanted (bolt) and makes me try content I might've never attempted before like strikes. They were intimidating at first but once you go for them they're actually pretty chill and give massive rewards. And such a good way to understand endgame group compositions and mechanics.

If there's a problem with a certain aspect of an online game the first thing I do is head to KZbin to see what I'm doing wrong. In your case I'm not sure why you couldn't have searched for an optimum way to earn gold on there... I mean there's a ton of guides, some super recent. The Wiki is also super helpful with regards to what you need for certain things and where to get them. I know I'm a vet but honestly getting gold really isn't a hassle in GW2 unless you're grinding the wrong thing or expecting instant reward in a short amount of time.

I did search for those and I was making decent gold, just didn't know it. That was my point, sometimes its not obvious to a newer player that they're actually doing progress. If a video says a farm gives 40g/hour how much of that 40g is liquid, almost none of it. Most of it is materials/currencies. And even those are sometimes more profitable turned into something else via crafting. But I was also coming from other mmos where everything is pretty obvious. Kill dragon, get loot, progress. I'm seriously starting to prefer GW2's way of doing it but it takes a bit to get into imo.

53:58 Heart of Thorns was the first time in years I'd had a computer capable of running GW2 (I was 16, didn't have the cash in my belt for a real PC back then) so I hadn't played the game properly in years. So to this day pocket raptors give me flashbacks. there's so many ways to get stat selectable gear or just gear in general: Verdant brink, Living world maps, WvW (admittedly not the best way to spend those currencies, but it's there), fractals, strikes, pvp (some reward tracks, and of course warlord exotics). Peon doesn't like PvE? then he should just grind gear by doing pvp, perfectly viable source of gear. The hardest gear to get is like, ascended trinkets/backpieces for specific stats like plaguedoctor or diviner or ritualist... or you can just buy the stat selectable ascended you can reset, ie, bloodstone, mist and jade mist items from pve, pvp and wvw. That's technically the more annoying slots to grind for, but you get the option to reset the stats of those ascended, making them like a pseudo legendary that you pay per stat change.

Hey Muk, I really appreciate you taking the time to make responses for videos like this, and I know I’m a bit late to comment on a year-old video, but I wanted to share my thoughts. The first big pain point for me is that they seem to have spent a lot of real money in the gem shop early on, which gives me the impression of a pay-to-win mentality, or them being a whale.This imbalance of them spending that much money while knowing basically nothing about the game should have been more talked about. This is not normal behavior for most players. When they mentioned that the mess in their inventory makes them not want to play the game, they present themselves as someone who has not explored enough to have even talk to the first few NPCs in the the starting area to learn how to manage their inventory. Many new players struggle with their inventory at the beginning, what comes mostly from the limited space that they are given - but this is not an issue here, they have bag slot expansions from the gem store and bags worth hundreds of gold. They should understand how to manage their inventory if they own these. Adding more bag space is not the answer there. They already have the space, they just need to understand what all these items do by reading their descriptions and finding out how they can be sold or salvaged for materials. The whole situation with them using builds and rotations in context with them dying to Dagda is very telling. They've clearly never been an end-game PvE player, so I don't understand why they feel the need to use a meta build when they're having such a hard time with a story chapter that's still part of the expansion's introduction. To them saying "it is frustrating, it felt like I was missing something" I can only agree, they did seam to miss something: the dodge tutorial in any of the starting zones or even the combat introduction area in the first chapter in EoD. Dagda was the first real boss for many new players and it was scaled for that. This was not a hard fight, I’d say any Hero Point fight in HoT is harder than the clear attack patterns from Dagda. Even with their copy-paste glass-cannon build, they should have been able to range-DPS her down without taking much damage. For them as a player - I think it's important to give them the benefit of the doubt and encourage them to learn more about the game, especially the PvE side, which they've obviously largely ignored so far. Everyone has a different learning curve, and with more experience they might come to appreciate Guild Wars 2 as much as the rest of its community does. For them as a content creator - It's pretty obvious from the way the video is paced that it was only uploaded for the ad-read... starting with the expansion to make it look like it's a legitimate critique, and then trailing off into basically filler content.

I understand that he 'plays' a lot of MMORPGs or whatever, but he is misinforming a lot of people that watch him and I feel like when you reach that kind of subscribtion base, you should try really hard and research before releasing something about a product. But to be honest, I actually really enjoyed reading the comments on that video and I really want him to release a video about the new expansion. Mukluk mentioned that the guy had a lot of mastery points that he could spend to progress his account further, but I think he forgot that LazyPeon needs experience in those masteries, so that he could spend those points. I mean, LP obviously knows how to spend them(since he already used 90+ of them), so there are two possibilities: Either he doesn't have enough exp, or he doesn't know which one to use them on(which showcases his lack of interest in the game). Unfortunately, I feel like he might not release another review or first impression of an expansion about gw2 again and that makes me very sad. I think if he does do it, it might turn out to be really fleshed out and good, but that would make it kind of 'meh'. Although, if he does a good job, atleast he will do a great service as the big content creator he is. It might sound like I don't like the guy, but it's not like that.

Before you get to be fully alt friendly, you would need a full set of trinkets + runes + 3 sets of armor, and I'm already excluding weapons. It is an insane grind, a multi-year grind. I still dont understand why EOD mechanic "Jade bots" is locked behind workbench. It makes a well thought out mechanic (with all different modules) very bothersome to the point where (I personally) install module and hope to forget about it. IMO once it's unlocked with EOD, you should be able to tinker with your JB from your eqipment screen to make that mechanic usable and user friendly. Muk not to be rude but all of his videos are like this. He makes videos about literally EVERY mmo he can find. Ofc he has no actual insight of any of the games because he just plays a few hours / days of each game, reads a quick summary about the game and makes a video. From my experience you need like at least 2 months of playing an mmo to start actaully understanding the game and like 4-6 months of playing to actually point out real issues with the game. You cant do that if you need to make a video about any and all mmorpgs

it be fine if he admitted ignorance instead of just projecting his guesses as likely facts. like, if this was Johnstrifeshayes discovering the novelties tab for the first time, he'd say ''is that new or was that there the whole time?'' then he'd look at the skins and minis and whatnot, noticed it mentions previous expansions or that some are obviously more dated and deduce ''oh, i see, that's been there for a while judging from this'', or he might just check the wiki and get the information there. or he would ask chat. anything more than assuming with such confidence this must be new.

I must admit to do storylines/expansions for the first time I go lazy ass on a necro minion master to make things easy before I try it on other classes. Learnt this when trying to complete expansions after getting stuck on other classes and going back after improving on how to get the classes that were stuck through to the end.

Anytime I hear anyone use graphics as an excuse to not like something my opinion takes a nose dive. Bleeding edge graphics are not a good thing, and many games in the past few years that pushed hard on graphics were just glorified tech demos at the best of times when they worked (Cybepunk 2077 for example). As far as Peon's argument about open world... the maps are huge in GW2. Some of them can be said to be too huge. And World of Warcraft still has its loading zones if he's using that as his benchmark. Honestly, find that more of a detraction in games these days with the push for "seamless" open world as you just end up with a game with a lot of dead space instead or if they are filling things in, a lot of that stuff happening that doesn't make as much sense as you think it should or a lot of copy pasta (again WoW prime example of this as if you gone into one open cave you gone into them all there). I don't get this argument of the story either, that seems to be missing the forest for the trees but again he seems to have put minimal effort in. As far as too horizontal I m just confused. The thing I like is not having to deal with the rat race anymore. The idea of if I miss a major patch or Gat forbid, an expansion, I am not going to be so hopelessly behind and all the hard work I put in is just a joke. I don't like that in the modern MMO mindset where that legendary item I busted my ass for in the previous expansion, is barely equivalent to a blue item in the next expansion. Also his guild wars 3 thing I dunno why he is hoping for that. It's clear he doesn't want to put effort into the game if all he is going to do is an hour at best. So what would a guild wars 3 solve for him?

Open world - Yeah, i see where he is comming from with games such as BDO, WoW and Archeage where there is no border between zone, the things is, all those game (you could add FFXIV) have inconsequential open world, meanwhile GW2 offer you such a deep and packed zones (wich are nicely linked to each other unlike FFXIV, i mean when i walk from Queen to Kessex, i don't magicly teleport to Kessex) Story - Not doing story is fine i guess, but the thing people like Peon miss and don't understand is : GW2 story content is more about gameplay than really story telling since HoT. But well he never liked story, and as we saw, he litteraly got his ass swooped by litteraly the easiest boss of the Soto story. Horizontal progression - That's the thing that bother me with his criticism, GW1 was already KNOWN for it's horizontal gear progression suplented by small peak of vertical progression, just like GW2 does. From Rare to Legendary gear is your vertical, Mastery is your vertical, Game knowledge and class mastery is your vertical, map exploration is your vertical, raiding is your vertical at first, the game is fuelled with small bits of vertical progression everywhere, but when you get everything done, you're really in that "horizontal". And here is what bother me : He doesn't even bother to engage with ANY of those vertical progression. Mastery? He didn't cared. Gear? He just checked online without understanding. Class mastery? He read a rotation, mechanicly imputed here, but never took 3 seconds to read his tooltips. Raiding/Striker/Fractal? Puahahaha. And sudently he say "ho the gaem has no vertikal progrerusiium :(((((( bad " then he says "the horizontal is GW2 strong point" then he say "GW2 should just delete gear". The man is pretty inconsistent with his review, but more so, even his opinion is inconsistent. And lastly GW2 - I think he just talk about graphics/visual... but as someone said in this comment section : "What I personally don't understand is why is he waiting for a sequel to a game he's barely explored 10% of?"

I'm one of those that love completing the world over and over... I've got 7 gift of exploration stocked up lol, and 3 more toons at like 70% or higher world completion :P 54:02 I mean, half of my wits think it was done on purpose... cuz it suits the theme quite well!

Yeah, on the map thing, I just got a boss portal device for my alts. It's cheap, (400 gems) That you can buy with the gold (you get just for playing the game)and use it to port to different boss locations to help open the map up to new characters. He doesn't play enough of the game to learn that his knowledge of the game is just slightly better than someone who boosted to max level then reviews what the latest expansion is. People who play the game, take time to understand it. Open world solo builds are a bit different than raid builds and he ran right into the "bad" then died. THis game , you keep running into bad you're going to die.

I can second using the boss portal to get places easily, even getting from cantha back to the core maps is cheaper/faster if you don't have the ability to port through arborstone via the portal item. I also use the spearmarshals star thing to get alts to the desert maps & once you get it you can use the arborstone portal item to port alts to at least that bit of cantha. As for getting to the jungle I use LFG to find a group running octovine, join in & get some loot then noodle off to do whatever. There's ways around the "no i dont want to do several chapters of the story a seventeenth time" but it'd be nice if there was a "unlock one waypoint on all these maps for alts" mastery or something for each expac/core. I'm pretty sure now even all new alts at least get one waypoint on the starter maps from the beginning in the core area.

I would love if you could unlock at least a waypoint on the other maps for other alts when you world complete on one. Then you can still do the completions but can move the others around to events if you need to. I say that as someone who's done full world completion multiple times just bc I enjoy the process.

As an on-again off-again player of GW2 I have always found it unintuitive what to do to access ascended gear (let alone legendary). If you don't play much in the way of group content, there doesn't seem to be an obvious path to get that gear - there might have been one, but it wasn't obvious to me. I got a few trinkets from laurels but beyond that I just bought a cheap set of exotic from the trade house and left it at that generally. Obviously the wizard's vault now has ascended gear and that's good, but it still comes at a pretty significant cost in terms of what you're not getting. I'm sure I'll end up getting it there because it's a very low-effort and intuitive method to do so, but it's not like that doesn't cost me a fortune in opportunity cost at the least. Still, it's great that it's an option, and it's far from the worst value thing you can get there if you don't plan to do fractals and raids and so on. That said; for someone that's probably come and gone from the game a handful of times in the past, the game has an uncanny knack to keep me interested for a significant period of time, because it never feels like whatever I'm doing is time wasted - going back to old expansions still gets me valuable character progression that will have a measurable impact on my enjoyment of the game, and that's something that no other MMORPG has ever achieved to me. The fact that even now, I can go back to living world early seasons that I never did, complete them, and get my advanced logistics (which I just got earlier this week) feels absolutely great. It is really an MMO that does a good job of having something for everyone, and making that thing feel rewarding to that person, in a way that I don't feel that any other MMO I've played does. Certainly, going back to WoW leaves you chasing your tail to catch up to the current content, and everything up to that point is functionally worthless in terms of character progression, for example.

Ascended gear can be earned through various means. However, the most reliable method is crafting. This would require you to level up your crafting discipline to level 500. This may take some time/money and be initially confusing. However, you'll notice that most crafting recipes follow the same pattern, just with higher level materials for higher level weapons. You are also right that you lose a bit of money getting ascendeds in wizard's vault. If you were to translate the cost of ascended from the vault to gold, it would be about 10 or so gold more expensive than crafting. Take it as a 'convenience fee' for not having to worry about crafting.

To be honest, LazyPeon's review just completely backfired. A little more care and attention in his review would have solved so much. Right now it's more like "bored teenager plays game he doesn't like for an hour" - this completely invalidates (for me, at least) his entire channel. A review or a look into a game is something that takes some time. If you're not getting into a game, or feel bored, or aren't in the right mindspace for it, simply don't do it. His entire video just screams "I didn't want to do this review" and to be honest, I expect better from him.

But for last 10-ish years I collected a lot of mats to craft one gift left for bolt. New player will stuck on wrong gear (system is confusing - power or +strike dmg. Concentration? I'm not a monk, I'm firebrand! I don't need it) with all the gold spent on smth useless.
