Hm, maybe not actually. Remember that Mullet is basically a back halved small tire car. There’s only so much power it will run with. Adding significantly more would need a proper pro mod chassis style setup and big bias ply tires. That car is getting near its limits so not much point in grenading the engine trying for more.
@lordcommander3224
@lordcommander3224 Жыл бұрын
@@AB-80Xthe only thing holding it back is it’s 3550lb curb weight. There’s quite a few small tire cars deep into the 5’s nowadays, but all of those cars are 900-1000lbs lighter than Mullet.
@danmyers9372

@@AB-80X - 100% correct. Unfortunately very few of Garrett’s followers understand this. They seem to think he can just a “drop” (🤣) an SMX in the car and run 5’s. @@danmyers9372 Direct the "ignorant" over to channels like Steve's. I was ignorant about all this before watching hundreds of hours of American motorsport videos because I was just never exposed to it. First, you are cool Steve. I appreciate how you're up front and honest about the reality of things and genuinely want to help everyone as much as reasonably possible. Anyone can see that in order to run with the top dogs, your engines are the gold standard. Not only is anyone guaranteed to be bringing a gun to a knife fight but the durability, performance, and quality speaks for itself. The added benefits that are often overlooked by many are the fact that you truly want them to win, you take pride in your work, and go far above and beyond to make sure every engine performs to your standards. This is what sets you apart from the rest. Kudos! On a separate note, I remember you talking about how a customer who purchases one of your engines have the option of working alongside you allowing them to participate in the build. I wish I could be there, in any capacity, while an engine is being built and dynoed. That is some next level stuff. If there are videos of customers participating in their engine build, I for one would enjoy watching them. I'm always looking forward to your next video and the knowledge being presented. Man do I miss this part of school.. we had automotive starting in grade 8. Briggs and Stratton to chainsaws, transmissions, motors, and we had high school racing, . We learned to build it , that came from us building a brochure so we could get sponcers,. And lots of hands on. By the time you got ur class 5 drivers license. U knew the car and started to work ur way into a spot as a driver, week end races and traveling to different towns to race different schools. My last project was a 81 Honda civic, chopped it 6" , put a 2l ish head on a 1.8l motor, hand fabbdd a intake to install turbo. Cut 14" rim had shop weld in steel 15" rim so we could use our old slicks from our main car. Flat black old school flames, gutted , plexiglass, roll cage, all done by a few of us and our awesome shop teacher. Had a bigg enough shop. We built bar stool racers , semi starter, cat battery, and a sprocket drive, boat rollers lathed down smooth, push the bottom and hang on. .. shop was a blast.... luv watching ur videos...

For anyone curious, typically, as the anodizing layer gets thicker, it will go from a gold to greenish to a dark gray/black. The anodizing is basically a corrosion product of the aluminum and is the ceramic Al2O3 (alumina or aluminum oxide)
@ionstorm66
@ionstorm66 Жыл бұрын
Aluminum oxide is clear and colorless any color is additives/impurities. Sapphire is just crystalized aluminum oxide, and pure sapphire is used for durable optics. It's as colorless and transparent as silica glass. They even make phone screen protectors out of it. Pure sapphire isn't used for gemstones as it is too clear, it has no luster.

I love seeing this motor is basically being built in the corner of the shop not some crazy nasa dust free environment and the dog is overseeing quality control

Selling engines to Cleet is a double edged sword. Sure it will get you a lot of attention, but he’s also going to send it. It’s probably a better deal for Texas Speed as their stuff seems more broadly appealing, so they likely get more direct sales, but hopefully Between Sick Seconds, Cleet and all the other cool stuff Steve does, the KZbin channel alone makes it worth it.
