@@agentorange9867 Lol, Arkham is anything but professional, most of the staff is either incompetent as hell, corrupt or insane people themselves. It's no wonder the inmates escape all the time. Especially because according to the lore, the Asylum was at the end of the day never supposed to be a Supermax prison (because of being, well a hospital for the mentally ill, not a prison), meaning even with all the high-tech special containment units and if the staff were purely benevolent and competent at their job, the security measures would still be never good enough to safely incarcerate superhumans (several of whom are technically speaking not even exactly criminally insane and would be actually more fitting for Blackgate)

@youtubestayatyourrootsforfsake22 күн бұрын
@@docnightmares8291 Exactly. Realistically speaking, Joker shouldn't even be an inmate of Arkham, but rather rotting away in Blackgate, either on death row or for the rest of his life in the maximum-security area. While there's no denying that he's supremely fucked in the head, he's not actually "insane", as in "not liable for his actions". Considering how he has proven time and time again his ability to plan and execute very complex schemes, he's totally aware of his actions and it's consequences, therefore in real life, the insanity plea probably wouldn't work in his case and he would be tried and sentenced to death or to a life sentence in an actual prison. But that's Gotham's totally not incompetent/corrupt judicial system we're dealing with here I guess.

True, but ranking crimes as “worst” than others, which can be equally as bad, creates a hierarchy. Especially when it comes to its victims and/or family (esp when involving children of any type of crime). All crimes, except maybe things like petty theft, are horrible and can be traumatic to its victims. It shouldn’t be a competition. I think that’s one of the things I most disliked as being a csa/cocsa survivor. What happened to me? Other victims of different serious crimes should be given the same amount of respect and awareness. Nothing more, nothing less. No “there’s special evil” mindset. Their and my perp(s) should equally all seen as the pos they are.
@jacej35520 күн бұрын
@@bimates2690 I agree with that point of view regarding crimes, each crime is horrible and shouldn't be ranked by awfulness, the only things that should differentiate the treatment of the criminals are the victims they create, those that create more victims should be treated worse though none are innocent or 'better' than another of the criminals.

Eddie is an amazing villain, and the writers seriously did such a great job shaping him, its such a shame he wasnt in the main game and only dlc 😭😭😭 like, the dialogue he says is probably some of the best imo - like the promising what happened to him would never happen to "our" kids all while subjecting us (the player) to unfathomable horrors - simply AMAZING in portraying his character ugh i just love this game man 😭😭

I know five people irl including myself with his similar backstory and someone was a guy. Yet when we see the statistics that pent up aggression and hate isn't directed upon the men that hurt them but other women and children. So Groom's reaction sadly is a pretty common accurate reaction too. And yes gore in horror is definitely awful but the fear of violation and sadistic pleasure from your pain and/or mutilation is another level of disturbing we don't see in Horror directed at men often.

@Jwizard16McDonald In the scope of horror fiction, you'll have to blame the writer and director for that one. Sexual brutality and violation in media, especially horror/thriller, have women more sensationalized and sexualized than their male counterparts by a wide margin. Being killed is one thing but being raped and killed is another. Horror writers know that, real life knows that. Hence why it's heinous and often used for shock value. (Or for the perverts out there, keeps them watching their movies).

I think the other part of it that makes Eddie gluskin so scary is that he gives you a feeling of being violated. Dr. Trager kind of has the vibe too because he cuts off two of your fingers but not as much as Gluskin. I wasn't nearly as scared of Chris Walker or the Wallrider as I was of them.

I love horror games, but Eddie is one of the few characters to actually make my jaw drop. A few times during his section I couldn't stop myself from covering my mouth in horror. I applaud him for that since not a lot of things can make me feel that uncomfortable. There were only a few parts in Outlast 2 that got a similar reaction, the babies you had to walk on was one of them along with the room where a girl was curled up on the bed weeping after Knoth was "done" with her. Outlast was easily one of my favorite horror games and this video captured why

For the game to have a character like Eddie Gluskin is incredible and terrifying. His character ties in to how monsters are made; either nature or nurture. In his case, it's nurture as his father and uncle did horrible things to him and his mother did nothing. Then even more so when he's put into that experimentation that corrupted his body and mind, creating the monster we see now. I was very amazed how they built up his story from the beginning to how he met his end. While I do feel bad for what he went through in the past, it doesn't excuse what he did in Mount Massive. Great video! Very informative!

As a woman, I want to say thank you for uploading this. Because men especially tend to forget how often other men are dangerous. "NOT ALL MEN!" They exclaim. But we don't know if we're dealing with an Eddie or a Waylon. And it's not that women can't be as deplorable as men, oh we're all human and capable of deplorable actions. But because the world is mostly men focused, they get the most chances to go and do far worse things.

Like, all too often I feel like guys in general don't understand how depraved other men can be. I'll never play Outlast. I have a low tolerance for gore and heinous crimes. But I feel like the developers really nailed it here. They put men in a similar role to what women have a higher chance of experiencing. There's noting salacious or cheap or forced feeling here; it's real and true horror. It's not raw, it's not a nightmare or real life where you really are trapped. But it's a simulation that absolutely shows the pure disparity and sickness that men do.

@@MysticMorigan1998 Yes. People may say it's not a women-only fear, and yes, some men are victims as well. If it wouldn't get him totally demonetised, I would say he needs to do Muraki from the VN/manga/anime Descendants of Darkness. Necrophilic hospital director with a hero complex who unleashes plagues so he can cure them for good press. The MC starts investigating and just finds more and more horrible things about the guy. Like he picks and chooses who he "saves," killing those who would cause maximum suffering (like the only child of a barren woman, spouses of already depressed or alcoholic patients, the most beloved of a group of siblings) which allows him to console them in such a way as to drain their wealth, and he has hidden cameras throughout to capture every moment of grief. Or that when a favoured patient needs a transplant, he tracks a previously saved patient down and kills them for the organ. Eventually he learns of the investigation *and falls for the MC!* And the MC is *male* himself, _but Muraki wants a family...._ One possible path is *he kidnaps and 🍇 your mother* and delivers the baby as "our son," then mindfucks the MC into enjoying being his "wife" and becoming his accomplice (the live action followed this path) Not only is he epicly deranged _it's implied his kill count is in the 5 digits due to releasing contagious disease so much,_ and he successfully framed numerous colleagues, destroying their lives and careers. _An absolute menace to society from every angle!_ 😬 Also if the child is female it's delivered, killed, and fed back to your mother "until the stupid 🐴 gets it right" 😖 _At least AM only hates you and wants you to suffer!_ Imagine Eddie with the omnipotent detective skills of Batman and the limitless super wealth and scientific knowledge of Tony Stark And if you pursue an option to kill him, _you find out after the unsuccessful attempt he is in fact, a vampire, and has been doing this since the 6th century_

Having *been* a fan of The American Quartet, you can imagine my horror walking into his domain. He is consistently and realistically horrifying for both men and women. I always hated the little tumblr fanfics he accumulated because I felt like it wrote over everything that made Gluskin GLUSKIN. “He’s making women to kill them.” It’s just a level of hatred I haven’t seen. His intro, set up, second intro and death is so perfect and an iconic Outlast moment. I can go on. This was everything a DLC should be. Nice to revisit Mount Massive a decade later. (Trager was always a close second.) Would love to work on the Red Barrels team one day. Love them.

there's an interesting component to the groom's behavior here O.O most sexual and gender-related horror is focused on female victims; an major exception is the Alien franchise, where the most horrifying thing the producers could think of is an unknown, growing thing bursting its way out of your stomach (to mimic pregnancy, not intended on the alien's part obviously). that is the MOST horrifying thing they could think of. it's interesting here, watching as a trans person with a background in medicine, chemistry, and psychology with a focus on trauma, how they went so in detail about non-consensual and butchered sex changes. it def makes me sweat a little bit

@veronis Well, think about it. As several commentors have said, what disturbed them about Eddie was they were guys playing the game, and along comes this big bastard chasing them down to turn them into women. That entire section disturbed a lot of guys playing and understandably so. Visceral reactions to him. Coming from a transguy...someone who already grew up with people pushing me and hounding me to be more girl like and trying to force it...shit hits waayy different. Resulting in, like I said, first game since SH2 released a game gave me the "what the fuck" moment I had to walk away. Talk to women that played the game, the ones that weren't drooling over him were pretty disturbed by him for reasons stemming from a woman's experience. He's that rare character wherein the player's gender and life experience can make his section really stand out and hit different compared to another player.
