To answer your question, the reason Spider-Man was in court in the first place was because he was being framed for murder by a bunch of police officers. After Spider-Man broke out, one of the cops involved turned himself in and confessed to the conspiracy. The cop's name was Vin and he was Peter's roommate.

Imagine trying to sue an Idea, the very concept of "anyone can be Spider-man" and "anyone can try to do the right thing". The mask exists not only to protect his loved ones but to prove that it could be anyone behind the mask, therefore the mask stays on by principle because Spider-man is all of us. The only difference is that the rest of us don't have Spider-powers, so we have to be more careful than he is, possibly even less considering what accidental damage he could do. Spider-man is first response before first response. Spider-man is damage control before damage control even gets there. Spider-man is a living asset to the city. Even when Spider-man screws up, he tries to fix his mistake. And they want to sue this concept of a person? You can't fix stupid. Stupid is FOREVER.

i mean against the initial guy thats why the good will law exists preventing you from being sued if you did something in good faith like for example someone needing chest compresses to live and you accidently do it to hard and crack a rib or if you have to do cpr on a women as a guy preventing you from being sued for sexual assault because even in the situation of if you hadn't done it they would be dead to protect the person as long as they acting in good faith if i remember correctly it was put in place after a multitude of stations of that exact thing where someone doing something to save someone's life only for that person to try and sue them to get something out of it. though i dont remember when it was put in place chances are there be such a law in that world stating this itself were if Spiderman hadn't done anything at all his injuries would have been either much worse or would have killed him
