Correct, and it's opposite on telemark gear. Look over your left shoulder, right ski is back.
@DavidSkis7 жыл бұрын
Same on downhill when skiing switch. Otherwise you get too much pressure on the inside ski and the turning is no longer effective.

Thanks a lot, cuz! The explanation of the proper technique and the pointer on the incorrect body posture all I needed. I started going switch really well by the third session (one hour each), and that's one hell of a lot of fun. Plus, it just makes one a more well rounded skier even if he or she doesn't do park.

Great tutorial. Wish I had seen it earlier. Took many private freestyle lessons and none explained skiing switch as good as yours. Just got through paying $40 for a basic freestyle video course. Your free KZbin switch video is better. Thanks.

for actually going switch with complete circles I think u should always look over the shoulder on the outside of the turn helping u to twist ur whole body.. I learned that during ski instructor training

Thanks for the video! I've been struggling with switch and this helped a ton! By fully getting your head around it also seems to re-establish your normal orientation with your edges so everything doesn't feel backwards, if that makes any sense.

In the CFSA they teach you to stick with looking over one shoulder from the start
@mullski109 жыл бұрын
Well, that's not very smart because you will regret that later if you go to spin both ways switch
@andrewcampbell95959 жыл бұрын
Jake Muller I think the idea is they don't want you to have a blind spot as you switch from left to right. But you're supposed to be able to ski a whole run looking over your left shoulder and a whole run looking over the right, so you can spin natural or unnatural- and you switch the lead change with each turn in between

I am a victim of this "skiing switch only one way". It gets worse because i learned to look over my right shoulder, but i spin left. This has left me only being able to hit jumps unnatty in switch and i fucking hate it, practicing the "right" way tho :)
@justindages94118 жыл бұрын
Can you make a video about how to nose butter/tail butter of knuckles and ridges?
@regenosis7 жыл бұрын
One thing I'm always worried about when learning to ski switch is that no matter how well you keep your skis staggered and how much downhill you can see, you'll always lose a huge amount of peripheral vision on the side opposite the shoulder you're looking over. So if I am skiing switch looking over my right shoulder and I am turning to the right downhill, I can't see anybody coming up behind me on the right. I'd have to always turn my head back away from looking over my shoulder to look back up hill and make sure no one's coming up on that side. Unless I'm totally missing something...
@DavidSkis7 жыл бұрын
Good switch skiers change the shoulder they're looking over. If you're going backwards looking over your right shoulder, your right ski leads the turn, and your right ski is to the outside of the turn. Then as you change your direction, you'll look over your left shoulder, then your left ski leads the turn, and your left ski is to the outside of the turn. This way you get a full view of your surroundings. As long as you avoid skiing switch in crowded areas, and take care to keep to a fairly narrow corridor, this can be fairly safe.

couple things you wanna know: ski width, ski length and turn radius. Your style of skiing decides which skis you should buy... do some research and find out what your style is, than pick skis matching to your skiing style. (Your skills and preferred terrain form your skiing style.)

hey wassup. maybe you can help me:) look, i "can" ski switch both ways BUT i have a REALLY hard time skiing switch for example only looking over my left shoulder cause then i basically can only make left turns and no right ones (in order to make right turns i have to "change" skis and look over my right shoulder..) it really annoys me. i hope you understand what i mean. i think a lot of people have this problem and it literally gets not addressed anywhere. PLEASE can anyone help me or can you make a video about it or pass me on to something or someone. THANKS!!!
