A cable path that rubs against the filament spool is a far bigger problem than a locking connector! That's a worn cable guaranteed. Needs completely reworking. Because those prints are awesome, even if white and other very light-colored filaments end up picking up a lot of whatever darker filaments they get paired with.

I just got mine last week and ran the first demo print off the SD card today. There are pimples from over extrusion but otherwise the little rocket looked amazing. They did move the cable you spoke about so now everything is on the extruded side and doesn’t get in the way of the spool. Clear instructions for initial set up. Only gripe is the QR code they have on the manual for videos…doesn’t work…yet? Great review. I was a very early backer and extremely happy with the product I received.

Exciting technology. No purge block for dual or coextrusion is technology we've all been hoping to see developed. I tried the Geeetech and was disappointed, although it was an interesting printer. The Cetus looks like an advancement in some directions, although it appears they have work to do to make it truly viable. It's fiercely difficult to achieve with the vast variety of filaments available, but it looks like they have the potential to get closer to succeeding if they Improve the software and firmware. I’m very interested in seeing what happens with the Cetus 2 going forward. Thanks for the detailed video on your first impressions!

I like it Picasso. It seems like the slicer still prints the outside of the model before the inside. And if the slicer was changed to print the inside after switching filaments then when it gets to the inside it will be cleaner. You might also find that white and black works fine if white is on the right side vs the left side or vice versa depending the direction the print head is printing.

I'm glad to see development in the multi-material scene. Like, I personally try to use as few "waste parts" as possible (y'know, rafts, supports, purge blocks/lines etc) just because I think one of the most amazing parts of 3D printing is just that, avoiding waste. I understand that in some cases it's unavoidable and yes, there's mitigations like "just print something non-aesthetic as the purge object", but MM purge blocks always felt like just a literal waste, so any progress in that area is, imho, very much appreciated. Hope they iron out the kinks in the actual machine (like the precarious wiring) but yeah, pretty interested in what the future holds for this concept.

i did back this project, hope that they fix the connector fixation. as far as i know we get options for spare nozzles. smaller but faster touchscreen with it's own cpu and not a shared cpu at the prototype version ---------- Touchscreen We decided to use another ESP32 MCU for driving the touchscreen and WIFI. So this mean the printer is a dual-MCU system, one dedicated for printing and the other for peripheral functions. The touchscreen will be a smaller 3.5 inch type but it is more flexible to develop and more powerful than the 4.3 inch screen currently used in the prototype. Hotend Temperature Control In the prototype we shown in the video, the extruder only have a single temp. sensor. We decided to add the second temp. sensor in the hotend to allow the two heater block to able to maintain at different temperatures. Since the two heater blocks are connected, max temp difference can be made is somewhere around 50C. This may give better stability for materials pairs that have dissimilar melting temps and allow more accurate temperature control overall. so we backers hope to get a nice 3D Printer !!!!!

Nifty. Color mixing extruders have been interesting but seem to always have that same issue of "they don't really mix" as well as color bleed. I know "no purge block" is a thing many people want (myself included), though it still comes across as "this is a software and calibration issue" as opposed to hardware, but people keep trying to fix it in hardware or they just accept sub-par results for the ability to half-heartedly announce they did a print without a purge block. How to get Prusa and Cura and Mosaic to actually put in the effort to reduce the purge block, I'm not sure. But I know if I was doing multi-color prints with this, I would be limited because of the color results and bleeding. Everything else, I think you covered well. I kinda had a cartoon-style response on "can't move the axises" like... what year is it? But we will see what people pull off with this.

I actualy personally developed basically the same dual feeder mechanism for a mechanical engineering internship at Builder 3D printers in the Netherlands, back in 2016 already. I designed it for their desktop printers back then (which they dont sell anymore), but nowadays they still use it on their large sized professional 3D printers.
