Nice vid. Nice to see someone who knows what they are talking about fly/review my mod. I sadly have not managed to get VMC correct, but im working on it

I’ll use that as the excuse as to why I flew off the runway at the end then 😜 I was really impressed by everything you’ve done with it so far though! Massive thanks on behalf of all the Diamond pilots out there who were pulling their hair out at the things wrong/missing from the default!

Always thought that the DA62 was cool looking. Looks extremely futuristic and is extremely futuristic. There's no need to control the propeller or the mixture. Just hit the button and go. Although my only gripe with the simulation is the blind spot from the pillar. I don't know if that's a problem in the real world.

It’s a very cool aeroplane but yes, the visibility is a bit poor.

You guys have a great channel! Now flying in the US, I did my flight training with CTC in NZ and the UK. I remember my MEP check ride on the DA42, it was such a demanding flight!

Thanks! Yeah the multi engine stuff can be pretty hard work.

Cheers for the video, I'll have the MEP to come soon as couldn't revalidate due to lockdown so this has given me a refresher.

Spot On Video just got the sim you see and thought I will not fly a plastic plane, however with the mod and this vid I will deffo take it out on the occasional cross country trip. Thank You.

Great video and I think I'll be trying some of this myself! Couple of notes: I noticed you were waiting for the speed to drop below 119KIAS (white tape) to put flaps 1 out, but I think flaps 1 speed in the DA62 is 136KIAS (see the text next to the flap switch), the white tape is flaps 2 for some reason. The official checklist asks for the fuel pumps to be switched on for takeoff and landing, not a pilot so can't give any more insight than that, assuming it's just in case the engine fails to pump its own fuel at a critical moment for whatever reason. Also to hugely make your life easier in the sim I'd recommend looking into head tracking apps for your phone. You just set it up to send the tracking data to OpenTrack on your PC over wifi, and MSFS picks it up just as if you were using trackIR. Voila, head tracking for less than £10!

Checked the maintenance manual on the fuel pumps thing, seems it's a redundancy thing to run both low pressure pumps in each engine simultaneously rather than just one. The ECU will detect a low fuel pressure condition and switch to the other pump automatically but I assume there's some delay associated with this which you don't want on takeoff or landing. "Each engine is feed by two parallel installed independent low pressure fuel pumps. During normal operation one of the two fuel pumps is working. In case of a low fuel pressure detection ECU switches automatically to the second fuel pump. During landing and take-off, or in case of a low fuel pressure both low pressure fuel pumps can be activated by the FUEL PUMP LH/RH ENGINE switch. If both fuel pumps are activated the fuel pressure increases."

Thanks for the comment! Yes I really should have read the POH for this aircraft before getting stuck in to making a video, instead of just assuming that I could use everything from the DA42 and it would be the same 😂. The fuel pumps sound like they’re used the same way as the ones in some Piper aircraft - as a backup for the mains in critical phases of flight. A number of people suggested the head tracking app but I can’t help but feel like my desk is far too cluttered for me to balance my phone where it would have a good view of my face 🤔 My FFH colleague Jimbo uses it and thinks it’s great though, so I’m sure you’re right!

This mod adds a lot of functionality, almost to the level of a payware aircraft. Definitely worth a try!

Great channel. Consider me subscribed. Looking forward to getting my bravo throttle quadrant so I can start doing multi engine. Mainly stick with C152+mod. Old fashioned VOR to VOR trips are my jam.

I may be wrong, but I thought that turning into the dead engine was to be avoided...??

Absolutely, if you’re close to your minimum control speed! Thankfully the newer twins like the DA62 have more of a comfortable margin between Vmca and Vyse, so it’s not something that we usually have to be concerned with, just keep the bank angle inside 25 degrees in the climb. This is just how I was taught though, so ‘YMMV’ as always!

I'm sorry you seem like a very nice and very knowledgeable guy and I am quite interested in this particular type of airplane. I think you may be using one of those head scanning devices so you can look around the cockpit and outside the windows towards the engines automatically. This constant jumping around from view to view "very fast" is making me feel quite nauseous, sorry I can no longer watch the video goodbye.

Yes, I managed 20 mins. then found I was thinking about the spinning views rather than concentrating on what he was saying about the systems, etc.

I had to give a thumbs down for all the extra taking, the constant moving of the mouse moved very fast and was dizzying. 15 minutes before you start the engine. I hope you're doing better at this by now. 20 minutes to get to the take-off point.
