I've been a life long Klein tool user and they mostly deserve the acclaim. Yet, I've been converting to Southwire mostly due to their 7 in 1 needlenose installtion pliers. They were of such high quality in terms of price to performance that I decided to give a few more of their tools a shot. I then picked up their lineman installation pliers, so I'd have the flexibility they both offered and they "wow'd" me again! I now own their entire line of comfort grip tools, as well as their SOUTHWIRE True RMS Multimeter (21550T). Once again, I regret nothing. Another brilliantly designed tool! They're of surprising quality and deserve more praise from tradesman. Far too many in the US (including myself) automatically gravitate to Klein and it's their end game, but the truth is, once you start using some of the other manufacturers tools, you realize that many other companies have stepped their game up dramatically over the years and that should be applauded, as well as supported. Supporting other manufacturers will force companies like Klein to innovate either in terms of tool design, possibly even in terms of production efficiency to bring the costs down a bit. Either way, the end result of a win, win for the consumer and that's a great thing.

I LOVE the Klein Grey handle Journeymen Hybrid Pliers (not featured) - best tool they have EVER come out with! - I do also have the Klein Kurve (shown here with the blue handle) and the Southwire (yellow handle) and I think they are all excellent for having the linesman feature along with the strippers! Best tools for residential work IMHO - If i walked into a home I could do MOST things with a mutli-screwdriver and Hybrid pliers...

Guess it’s personal preference, all the electricians I know, including myself, break the locking mechanisms off of our strippers to avoid accidental locking while using.
@MisterBigDave5 жыл бұрын
I’m not an “electrician” but I do a lot of dc wiring. I like the Milwaukee, you can strip outer jacket easy but the cutters do nick up because they are thin and close to small tolerance. I have both the older and new Klein HD models, the cutters are different style, yes I would like the lock, but I use a rubber O ring over the tip no problem. Good review!!
@russiansparky41945 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud! I was thinking of using an O ring or a zip-tie of a fixed length locked down with a dab of glue.
@MisterBigDave5 жыл бұрын
It’s just like a heavy rubber double thickness gasket about 3/4” or so round, I can just slip it over the ends and it stays pretty well, then I just pop it off and stick it either in my pocket or in the end of another pliers handle in my bag till I’m done. Works good, no muss no fuss *))))))))

BTW, you can twist wire with those southwire's? The head reminds me a lot of Needle Nose pliers? nvm, you answered it, thats why i love the Sw S816, they made the head more broad fr that purpose! i just dint understand how guys can twist wire with the knipex installation pliers??
@russiansparky41944 жыл бұрын
I think that's the biggest downfall of the Knipex installation pliers - the jaws are too thin to twist anything. Southwires are passable for twisting wire together, but I now want to try those Klein "hybrid" pliers that you were talking about

I love the new Klein, just toss the spring and you don't have to worry about not having a lock. Pliers shouldn't have springs anyway
@russiansparky41945 жыл бұрын
I hear you. It's just that if you look at these as strippers, you'd expect those to have a spring. Matter of taste, I suppose. I know people who rip the spring out of their strippers, so to each his own! Thanks for watching.

I recently blew up the pair of Southwire heavy duty strippers with the lineman nose and I could kick myself for doing it because they have been the best wire strippers that I have had in the last few years and I am definitely going to buy another pair of them.. I just have to find another set at a store or order them.. I remember I bought them 2 years ago and they held up so well but I shorted them out against a motor that had very short wires feeding it and it basically ruined them.. but if you don't short your tools on hot wires then they will last a long time.. I like klein tools but I also have a whole setup of the exact same tools but they are Southwire brand and I really like them too..

The crescent 7-in-1 version are just the 7-in-1 version and I looked for the model number and just are letters they (the crescents) are sold on Amazon as the irwin and the ideal 45-113. Try out son Buenos (to me). Que tengas un bendecido dia.

@russiansparky41943 жыл бұрын
@starobinful3 жыл бұрын
@russiansparky41943 жыл бұрын
