I like this version. Some may disagree with the ending, but this ML was not as despicable with FL as in other plots. He did ignored her, but he was deceived by people around him that made him believed FL was faking her sickness to look for his attention, until she actually died. Also, he didn't wanted anyone to know he loved her and that she was his weakness, so he mislead the attention to her supposedly childhood sweetheart to confused the 1st prince, but FL was also deceived in the process. After FL died, ML gave his life as a sacrifice to gave them both another opportunity to live together, and this time ML suffered the same indifference he gave to FL previously. He did everything he could to make amends and I think he proved how much FL weight in his heart. At least for me, it is worth watching ❤

@Stratbwra Relax 😅 it is all fictional... it is just a drama.. I mean, no one is saying violence is okay or justifiable, be it physical, emotional or psychological. Misunderstandings, lack of communication, and rumors can do a lot of harm, is not about just being abusive cause that's the way they are, like in many other dramas. Plus, there is no harm in giving a point of view, I did say at the beginning, that some may not agree with the ending, specially since this is a short drama that skipped a lot of the actual story and leave a lot of things out of context.

I read this summary elsewhere bc i too was confused why he treated her that way if he loved her so much... apparently, the 4th prince, ML has always loved her even in previous life, but bc of the 2nd prince, the ML didnt want him to know she was his weakness &harm her... thus, he treated her terribly esp in public. This ofc is still unacceptable explanation for me. He made her suffer so much... There were the flashbacks where he kind of went crazy after she died & he begged that monk to have her reborn even though he may lose his ability to reincarnate... it still didnt sit right w/me. He could have explained to her, talk to her, but instead decided to hurt her terribly humiliating her at every turn. But, it also looks like they may have had some good times together, esp that scene w/her giving him the jade pendant but the bad times were more highlighted... Not sure if he deserves her now in this life after everything, but the guy did beg for her return in return even with the possibility of him not being reincarnated, so im a bit on the fence..all i can say is he deserved her animosity in this life. They need to at least have a very long conversation one way or another.

Thank you for the explanation! It made a lot more things clear to me. It also explains why he wanted to execute the servants and doctor that told him his wife was in good health in the previous life. I think he took for granted that at the end of the day, his wife would not leave him or lose faith in him. his reputation for being the most wanted man in the capital also did not help. Seeing her so indifferent in the next life showed him that he has to put forth effort and be clear about his feelings. Otherwise he'll lose her again.

Good version & it once again shows that being honest is best or everyone gets hurt .If he, ML had just told the FL why he pretended to not love her in 1st life none of the issues would have happened. If she knew they could have been happy & found a way to stay safe until the danger had passed or the FL could have decided the risk showing their love was worth it even if targeted by his brother the 2nd prince. Honestly this was frustrating to watch because it felt like a lot of context is missing. I understand the FL reluctance to marry the 4th prince but in her desperate attempt to escape him she ignores red flags and doesn’t do any thorough background checks. What’s the point of a rebirth if you end up in similar hell to your first life?? She only met the scholar a few times but was ready to risk her life to protect?? I liked this story. The director was very clever, putting in snippets of the past abuse instead of a long arc, so that we could compare the Fourth Prince ML then before the FL's rebirth and now after her rebirth. There seemed to be a few missing scenes that show his reason for treating her coldly--he wanted to be the Tai Ze (Crowned Prince) and so was not going to show anyone any flaw (soft spot) to get at him. He also didn't fully trust his wife (the FL) enough because in her previous life, the marriage was manufactured by the Empress who didn't have her own child to establish her own power. So, firstly, he didn't want to let the Empress get any more powerful and secondly, he didn't want anyone to see he did love his wife. The FL was obviously very much in love and acted very impulsively. Sure, the way he treated her was very cruel (no getting around that part) but I think ambition blinded him. Perhaps he'd figured he could isolate her and kept her in the dark until he got what he wanted and then, he'd reveal his feelings. Whatever the reason, he did hurt the FL very, very badly through his cruel words and humiliation of her. Like I said, the only saving grace was the director's clever usage of snippets to compare the ML then and the ML now so we could get to like him. The 2nd life FL and ML have their stories reversed. She was the cruel one and constantly repudiated him in public and he was the one confused because he couldn't understand her hatred of him. Her unwillingness to go along with the Empress' plan to marry her off to him was what caught the ML's initial interest and curiosity. This was what changed the course of things--there was no suspicion of machinations and also, the FL didn't show her total infatuation like she had done in the first life, so that left the ML even more non-plus over her refusal of being with him. This time, also, the ML chose to sacrifice ambition for love--bringing the troops into the Palace was a crime and he did it anyway to save the FL, ambition be damned. By doing that, he repudiated his former life's mistake and got all his memories back so that he too understood what he had to do. I have a couple of questions left, though. Yes, what he did was very toxic and unforgiveable, but he also did all that privately when he could have been a bit more loving. So this was a big plot weakness for me. It's hard to totally give him a pass since he never showed any gentleness and regret until that last memory of the FL's death. The other question is, the FL said she was always humiliated because of her dumbness, so why did she not have the same talents during her last life? She was still taught by her grandmother, who was the No. 1 Cai Nue of her time. This time around, she preferred to hide her talents and yet, had to show them because the stupid 2FL made that impossible. And, her rebirth was because of a plea from the ML--did he really lose ALL his reincarnations? (But not his rebirths, LOL, which is a different thing, LOLOL) The last question was just the weird decision to use the anime drawings and the "Bye Bye" phrase uttered by the FL. Was this time travel reincarnation? LOL. Nope, she specifically woken up and said "I must have been reborn!" Anyway, these are just my thoughts. I really enjoyed the drama.

All of the actors did wonderful❤ I loved how she was resolute and firm in her hatred of him. I enjoyed her supportive family (excluding the aunt) and staff. Spoiler!! I do not like how he had memories of his past (reborn / restarted) too. I am glad we got to see him suffer the after math of her passing but it felt odd. He treated her so horribly but was suddenly obsessed with her after she passed. We never saw him care for her so that made no sense. I liked it otherwise but the ending was rushed. It could have used a good twenty to thirty more minutes. He needed to do some heavy groveling for everything she went through. Either way, this would have been perfect if she ended up single or we had the best SML turned ML. It is a waste she ends up with him. I guess it could be considered an open ending because all they did was kiss but🤷‍♀️. I was getting so annoyed.

FL is just as cruel and sarcastic to ML as his past self was to her. - Present ML has an unexplainable attraction to FL and does not really care to hide it from his close associates. The ending: - ML remembers his past life through a dream which shows he was distraught by FL’s death and regretted his pursuit for power against his brother. He was willing to give up everything just to be with her again and got a monk to cast a spell to let him meet FL again even though he was warned about the high price to pay. - ML saves FL from the scheming and murderous scholar and wins her back by reminding her of her promise when she gave him the jade pendant in their past lives. - It seems that ML did love FL in the past despite her constant clingy ways and insecure public outbursts. Perhaps he thought he was protecting her from becoming a target of his enemies. However he did not explain his behavior to FL to rope her into the act with him. Given FL’s childish behavior in their past lives, perhaps engaging her in his struggles might not have gotten her understanding or cooperation. Still it would have been better if he had been honest with her anyway and dealt with whatever consequences which ensued since he loved her. In a way, his choices and actions are understandable (although not excusable) since he was brought up amidst palace intrigue and probably did not learn or understand much about how to love another person. I’m ok with the ending since justice has been served by a reversal of fortunes in the present lives and reparations have been made by the ML by a complete 180 degrees change of his behavior in the present.

In the other version of the story, they showed that the prince was vary of her due to her aunt and believed that she had ill intentions. After the years of neglect, she fell for someone else but was caught and killed by the prince. In that version, FL did not go back to the ML but he intended to chase her. I skipped the drama to the end coz that ending felt incomplete but was more disappointed here.

They skipped her death scean in the beggenning of the movie, and skipped she swor not to marry him in another life They should made a better end with 2ed handsome gentle honest ML She deserves a Bettr end If you believe in this bulshit of rebirth, then use it well not like how it is badly used in all those stories 😂

Whats the point of regretting after her death ?.. the writers should at least explain in past life if he loved her then why did he behave so cruelly with her.. 😕😕 Story was good but ending felt very incomplete 😢

Really worth watching! 😍 I've watched it several times already. This is the 2nd version of the storyline I've watched and this version is much better because the story is more complete. Good acting for all casts. (well, except for the part where the villain prince has to do the "sinister laugh"!... which is I think common in other cdrama! 😏) You must watch the last 10 minutes carefully to understand the whole storyline. Where the ML went to the Buddhist priest and asked for a favor. (In the other version I watched, this scene was cut...that's why I did not understand the reason for the storyline.)

I love this drama.the early scene showed how the cold prince treated his wife and in between her memories it shows how arrogant she was in her position as wife and how irritably nagged and follo the ML around. There is the redflag of possessiveness from the Fl that lead to suffocate her husband.in later part when she took her life he was so distraught and realized how much he loves her.after her reborn she changes her attitudes toward him and turned the table around. She was pursued and she was much loved.Both of them suffered the same fate of how it feels to be ignored and mistreated. But the ML never give up in the reborn part and that what makes the FL realized love for him is still there in her heart. The ending was sweet. Im happy for that❤
