I carry Victorinox swiss card lite... Everyday... Very usefull bcz it has scissors, torch, knife,pen,pin,4 screwdrivers,ruler, magnifying glass, tweezers, ... It is All in one multitool , very light weight and slim..☺️☺️

Have recently purchased a Gebier multi tool the lenght of my thumb, mainly for sorting mother out at her care home. But the first thing I used was the pliers for cracking crayfish legs to get at the crab meat.

I carry a Cabela’s mini multi tool in my purse. It has come in handy more than one occasion! I use the screwdriver part of it frequently as well as the pliers and knife. I do need to find one that is tsa compliant without spending a lot!

Another great one, Eunice! You know, I abandoned multi-tools some years ago because of how heavy they are. Though I ALWAYS carry my Vivtorinox Mini-Champ on my hey holder and I use the scissors or tools daily. That and my Rovyvon flashlight and pocket knife. This last year I did however pick up a small multi-tool with pliers like the Squirt, but it was the Columbia brand from their local employee store that we frequent. It was incredibly handy and relatively light weight. It was only until this weekend that I tried to use it and the binding that holds the pliers tight failed and it reminded me why I am such an EDC snob. It's the one cheap piece of kit that I own and failed when I needed it most. So the reminder for me was don't skimp on tools or novelties. Pay the extra money to buy quality and they will last decades. The extra cost is far less than replacing numerous tools.

Hi, great run-down of the options! Two things about the little Leatherman with the scissors: the carabiner doubles as a bottle opener, and the scissors break on a fairly regular basis. The spring bar just snaps off, and apparently it's been a fault for years.

Hi Eunice. Thank you for covering this. It's a really important topic. I unfortunately have a problem with the grip strength in my hands and I have a hard time handling a multitool. I do carry small scissors, a flat knife, and a screwdriver with Phillips one end and a Flat Head on the other. I also keep a mini flashlight and whistle clipped to the outside of my bag on a keychain that I can easily grab. My next purchase will be the Gerber Dime. I always look forward to I your videos. Hi Cheryl! I completely understand! I sometimes have a hard time opening up some of these tools and if I don’t have strong nails, I don’t know how we get them open! I’ve noticed as I got an older it’s a little harder to get these tools to open because of my grip strength as well. You and I are cut from the same cloth because I have whistles and things like that off of my EDC bag as well.!😀

Thanks for these shown items, may be I found here a gift for my 2 daughters. My everyday carried items: a) On my body/cloth pockets: glasses + keys + purse (money, cards, usb-memory stick, paper clips + safety needles, 1st aid plasters) b) Sling bag (inside bag pack): 1. Paper tissues + tiny 1st aid (plasters + bandage) 2. Vision: alcohol wipes + microfiber (cleaning glasses) + head light + magnifier glass 3. Writing: Pen + paper notebook (urgency contacts/addresses/phone numbers), so the lost bag can be returned (recently occured). 4. Eating: hygienic clean eating knife with spoon + fork (spork / foldable camping knife) to eat on the go, dont rely on wasty 1-way cutlery. 5. Tools: Screw drivers: additional to slotted also philips & hex screw driver bits (phone/laptop/bicycle etc), my hand multi tool includes 9. c) Bag pack: 6. top pocket: swiss armee knife (80 mm, bottle opener, scissors, etc.) + foldable cup 7. right side pocket: Water bottle + umbrella + tiny bicycle air pump 8. left side pocket: sun cap + face mask

I carry a Leatherman Squirt everyday without fail. Have one on my car keys which are always on my belt loop. Have one on the house key ring, one in the car, one in my EDC back pack, I use the small knife on the Squirt nearly daily and the pliers & scissors weekly, fantastic tool for EDC. Also have Leatherman Wave's within hands reach most of the time.

Hi Eunice! I have 2 multi tools. The larger one I carry in my car. It has a case with a loop to wear on a belt and it is from Coleman. The 2nd one is a smaller one that I carry in my purse. It is by Leatherman and it has a little rope/strap attached with a little Maglite on the end. I have used the screwdrivers, knives and scissors on both of them, and been very glad to have them in a pinch.

I also love multi tools and have acquired a bit of a collection over the years. I keep my really old leatherman wave in my car and another large multitool at home for the frequent times I don’t really need to pull out the tool box. I have a Swiss Army knife and Gerber dime that I take hiking, even small pliers can come in handy. I also keep a small Swiss Army knife on my keychain, along with a light, a whistle, a pen, a small usb cord and a vial of medication. If I’m out of the house I always have my keychain. Like others comments, I love my leatherman micra- a really good pair of scissors. For edc, I carry that or the Gerber dime most of the time, in addition to my keychain Swiss Army knife.

@@TheoryofSimple the leatherman wave was my introduction to the plier based multitool. It came out about 25 years ago. Leatherman has released a lot of different multi-tools since then. I don’t know if the wave still stands out compared to what they’ve released more recently. I have always been pleased with the leatherman quality. Gerber has been a little hit or miss for me. But Ive bought 3 leatherman for myself over the past 20 years and have given the micra as gifts a few times.

It’s vintage now (LOL) and needs a bit of attention. So, today I am cleaning it and sharpening blades. I also carry pepper-gel spray (the one you recommended…thanks) and a powerful sonic whistle. I live in an open-carry state, so I sometimes (depending on circumstances) conceal carry a 9MM firearm. I am trained, I am confident and I am protected. Thanks for sharing your finds. @@TheoryofSimple Funny you should inquire about that, as I was recently reminiscing about mine. Yes, I own a stun gun. I’m sure it is obsolete by now. I got it 10 years ago when I lived in California. I do not recommend the type that I have, since it has connected wires that are internally concealed and also connected to the voltage mechanism that is to be discharged. Once fired the wires stay connected to gun (until manually released) AND to the traveling voltage-stun device (which has hooks). Your aim needs to be spot-on because there is no fast reload technique for a quick second shot if you miss the first time. Chances are that in a panic situation you will lack the proper composure to steady your aim. Practice and mental grit are the only things that will steady your nerves. Once fired and attached to your assailant (by the hooks) you either surrender your weapon and run, or wait around and use the additional stun mechanism (built into the gun itself) directly onto the skin of attacker and wait around for him (or her) to give up and promise to be nice. What are the odds? In IMO, a ‘stunning experience’ just further fuels the fury of an attacker, and does not render them helpless for long. Also, the gun itself is cumbersome and easy to drop prior to firing. Think it’s a great addition, but not an absolute alternative to a firearm; ask any law enforcement officer. I am pretty sure technology has advanced in the last 10 years and there are more user friendly models available on the market. My stun gun is in storage and I cannot recall the brand name, I do remember the box being yellow and black (only a girl would say that! LOL). Think I recall a video of you on a hiking trail with a stun gun that worked with direct contact with skin while you held down trigger / button. Great if you have the upper hand in an adverse situation, but not good when trying to distance yourself. Furthermore, to really know and understand the jolt it delivers and its capacity to stop an attacker in their tracts you really need to have someone volunteer as a Guinea pig so you can find out BEFORE you ever use it on an attacker. Good luck with the one. Bear spray in a mini canister seems to be popular as it has a long trajectory of over 10+ feet, and diverts a bear’s (or attacker’s) attention, from a safe distance, by delivering a substance that causes extreme discomfort. That’s my two cents. Thanks for asking. 😊

@@TheoryofSimple Oh brother, I’m embarrassed. I’m rusting on my terminology. What I have is a stun gun and Taser combo. Taser creates distance between you and assailant. Stun gun requires direct contact (no distance). Tasers require dead on aim. Margin for error in missing a moving target is great. Stun gun is great if you are grabbed from behind and can still use your arms. Only problem with that is you better be walking with it in hand and at the ready to use it without dropping it. Remember, any weapon you use to protect yourself can also be used against you. Most targets are just that because they are distracted and not alert to their surroundings. Confidence is a great deterrent to someone looking for easy prey.

I use the Victorinox Deluxe Tinker TOOTHPICK gets used a lot SCISSORS a bunch, best scissors on a multi-tool, hate the Gerber/Fiskars TWEEZERS are nice for splinters & stray hairs PLIERS some, jewelry repair, tight thumb screws, whatever the KNIFE is handy too, use it for picnic dinner instead of that plastic crap but don't cut thru the plate!!! and the Victorinox Classic on my keychain TOOTHPICK, SCISSORS & NAIL FILE get used a lot and there's the TWEEZERS I have toolbox with REAL PLIERS for that household repair TSA - don't do that, I QUIT FLYING or any form of travel where someone sticks their hands down my pants to feel me up

I gave my wife the first gerber multitool that she keeps in her car, just if something comes up , comes very handy to have it in your car glovebox, plus you know where to find it always, and a classic sd Victorinox in her keychain

Leatherman Micra! At only about 2 inches in length, it is the smallest pocket multi tool that still unfolds with the best sharp little pair of scissors I have used countless times. I always carry it in my EDC bag. I also carry a much larger and heavier duty one from Pohaku every day. Similar to the ones in your video. I love it!

Multi-tools are great and very handy. I just wish they could still be carried on the airplane. I carry a mini multi-tool and keep it in a plastic pill bottle most of the time.

Yes, unfortunately we are not able to carry those on the plane anymore due to some unsavory individuals so if I really want to bring a multitool with me, I just put it into my checked luggage. I usually stick it in a shoe and then sticks and socks and stuff on top of it, so it just makes it a little harder to get to when my bags being inspected.

I carry 2 small otbitkey ones with my keys, the one with a little mirror and the proper multitool. They barely take any space and they had been really handy in certain occasions for small things. Eunice - I don't know if you'll see this because this is an older video - but I was curious how one would most efficiently go about finding which countries outside the U.S. do *not* allow (outdoors type) knives / multitools in (in checked luggage). I figured if anyone knew how to find that information, it would be you! Thanks!

Well, I don’t know have all that information but I do know that if you go to China, you cannot bring in a knife or anything sharp. I once went in with a digital pair of calipers, and they took them from me.! I also know that if you go to the United Kingdom, they do not law any fixed blade, multi tools or knives so anything that opens up where it locks out is not allowed in those countries, so it Hass to be a blade that does not lock out. I am very careful about bringing those types tools outside of the US although I do now bring that little multi tool/utility knife with removable blade.. this allows me to have some sort of multi tool that useful and if the country has utility blades and they are allowed then I can buy them once I get there. I've carried the SAK Classic SD since I was 9. I currently have also the SAK Fieldmaster which I keep in my car, a DeWalt multi-tool which I use all the time in my classroom, I have the Shard in my mini med kit, and I have the Dime in the house which I use the angled box cutter specifically for that terrible plastic clamshell packaging - it works wonders on that!

Yes, I carry a small multi tool from Bass Pro Shop/Cabela’s, and I carry a small Swiss Army knife. I’ve needed to use both for so many things! Mostly the pliers, screwdriver, scissors, and knife. They’re great!!

I carry my Leatherman micra and I feel like it serves most purposes for EDC. I always have two light sources as well…a Streamlight Nano and an Olight Warrior2 mini.

A lot of people have recommended that Leatherman micra. I’m just like you I like to have a couple of light sources. I learned my lessons well in India, because the power kept going off.! so now I always carry extra lights and battery /power banks with me! 😊

I think it’s always good to have just a little something, if not for protection, but also to have just in case or those little emergencies to tighten the screw or cut off the label or even like I said a ballpoint pen so that you can write something. Regarding the fleur-de-lis Lamps behind me, I got those at TJ Maxx many many years ago! The fleur-de-lis canteen was handmade by a Potter.

Yes I carry a mini multi tool by Renegrade in my pocket every day! It's the same as a Leatherman Squirt. I use it just about every day.

Don't agree on the Gerber Lockdown Pry tool being a good self defense tool or easy to use tool. I think a Swiss Army Huntsman is probably a better quality hiking tool (if pliers aren't needed). Also, for self defense best to carry pepper spray or a proper folding knife you can easily deploy one handed... Or, if permitted, a small pistol (if you get proper training). Also, I think you're supposed to close the scissors pushing the handle towards sharp edges first until the scissor edges are tucked in safely. Pushing the tool while the edges are exposed is not very safe! As for the rest of the tools you suggest for light carry, they're great. Have given Gerber Dimes away to friends but if budget allows, the Squirt PS4 is a far better choice if pliers are a priority. Otherwise, would suggest the Leatherman Micra or a Swiss Army Manager. Gerber Shard and the Swisscard are great everyday carry tools. Didn't know there was a Swisscard with a magnifying glass! Thanks for sharing. I carry a swiss army knife tool from my purse but have to remove it when I fly carry on. I will look into the credit card tool. That looks very handy, thanks for the review.

I love your videos! For EDC I carry a Victorinox 7 function & a Gerber dime in my purse. I have a slightly larger Gerber in my car. In my check-in baggage I carry my Swiss Champ (it also goes in my bugout bag). Mostly what I use in all of them are the scissors & tweezers. I want to get the new Swiss card you've shown before, since it can go thru security. My old swiss card was confiscated at security years ago, although the blade wasn't in it! I would love to see what you carry in a bugout bag, if you have one. Thanks for all of the great pointers!

So my bug out bag it’s actually a backpacking pack that I carried around when I was a Ranger with US for service and it includes a tent and sleeping pad and a 0°F sleeping bag as well as other cooking implements and probably weighs a good 35 or 40 pounds! But I can live in that thing almost indefinitely, except for food rations!😊

I keep a card-style multi-tool thing in my purse, it's super light duty stuff, but it has a little knife, a scissors, a light, a tweezers, a pen, and a little thing with screwdriver points on it. It has been useful for a lot of little crises. I also keep a small (1.5" ) knife and a tiny flashlight in my bra. [EDIT: I also have a Leatherman Squirt in my purse as well]

I carry a small Swiss Army knife that has the basics (small blade, scissors, screwdriver) with a light and small pen. It hits all my “everyday “ needs. I have a different Victorionox credit card tool than the one you showed, it has a small blade that I would remove to take when traveling. But it has the four little screwdriver heads, a light, scissors, etc. i use my multi tools daily so don’t like to travel without some capability.

This is great, Eunice, I think this may be the first multitool video I have seen from a woman. They tend to be regarded as such a 'guy thing'. Both of my keychains have keychain sized Swiss army knives, and I have multitools in my vehicle, bags, and just about every room. Really, it does become quite the addiction! But I tend not to flash them in front of other gals! I also use the scissors the most with my keychain ones, and the blade on the one I keep on the TV cabinet (which is in my entrance hall, because it's actually bigger than the tiny living room and so is my TV lounge) for opening packages I receive in the mail. Both of my keychain Swiss army knives are Victorinox, the Midnight Minichamp and the Signature Lite. What I like about those is that, along with the more conventional tools, they both have a small flashlight and pen. Although I have tiny flashlights attached to my purse and keychain and always carry a pen, it is good to have the backup on the knife itself. I keep the Gerber Dime in my EDC tote bag (which I may not always have on my person, but do have in the car whenever I go out), and my vehicle emergency bag (the typical prepackaged Canadian Tire emergency kit) has a larger no-name multitool where the main tool is the pliers. I have used the Leatherman Style for travel (I haven't checked a bag in years, I travel carry on only), but even though it is supposed to be TSA approved, some agents will still confiscate it. I think some of those agents will confiscate anything they think is cool and want to keep, just because they can! My bugout bag has the Victorinox Huntsman, which many folks think is the best overall camping knife, and I have replaced the toothpick on that with a Fireant ferro rod and have added tinder coils that are meant to fit in the screwdriver. I also find an older version of the Victorinox card food for small flat purses such as an evening bag. Finally, I keep a Leatherman Micra in my travel toiletries bag. One thing I have noticed about the newer tools I have purchased is that the tools are very stiff, and I cannot get them to fold out without using a coin or another tool to pry them out. I would be most interested to hear what you or anyone else has to say about how to loosen those up so you don't break nails while trying to unfold blades and scissors!

Hi Jen! Wow wow wow! You are truly prepared for anything! I have found that the newer tools are getting harder to open, and I don’t know if it’s my grip weakening as I get older, but thank goodness I have strong nails, and I can usually open them that way! I have noticed that on some of them if I use them for a while or open and close them several times that they loosen up a little bit! Thank you so much for letting us know which ones you carry so we can look them up and find out if it’s something that we’d like to add to our EDC!😀🥰

This is wonderful! I have a very similar multi tool stash to yours (and yes, they are quite addicting!). I don’t hide mine from my friends and while I might get teased a bit, whenever ANY assistance is needed (a thread snipped, a package opened, a screw tightened, a bottle opened, a pen to write something or a light to see by…) they know where to come… and OFTEN do!

Yes! I carry a swiss army knife. I had one which was confiscated 16 years ago at the Statue of Liberty. They also took my mini flashlight! :0(....but I was a "tourist" and had no other option if I wanted to get the ferry to the statue. My favorite feature is always the corkscrew for wine! Oh..and for self-defense, if ever needed on the airplane, a friend's husband who is in the military says that a ballpoint pen makes for a good makeshift weapon.
