I've got one I love it. There is a bit of a learning curve but when she get it can transition through things quite easily. Just remember the exit button. Also you can hold the Stop and hit the rewind button that'll bring you back to the beginning of the track instead of having to hold down the rewind.
@davidprocter1585
@davidprocter1585 3 жыл бұрын
That's odd- on mine the stop/rewind dodge doesn't work (although it does on my 4 track micro BR) but if you get the cursor onto the counter digits at the top of the screen, and then roll back the selector wheel, that will take you back to however far you roll it, very handy as the rewind button on its own is very slow! Thanks for pointing that out, I'll try to include that on the next installment! 😊

A great idea this sort of videos about the Boss BR-80. Not many of these can be found on KZbin. I have one, but it does indeed have a learning curve that is not easy to extract from the manual. Hopefully you will make a few more videos in which different things are discussed. Anyway, thanks for this one.

I find my 4 track is better for recording with headphones as don't come with a 60hz hum cycle when plugged in with a power adapter. The 8 track does. Luckily it does not affect the recordings. But does make things a little difficult to bare after a while. Especially if you need to hear all the details in the mix. Thanks for reply. Love this video and many thanks. But I need something far simpler to get me going. How do I record an acoustic guitar on one track and put a vocal over in on track 2? I like this video but I know nothing about recording and I mean nothing so a very simple step by step guide ie what mode do I chose? How do I record the guitar? How do I chose my recording level? How do I start again if I make a mistake? Once I’ve got the guitar recorded how do I record the vocal with right recording levels and ability to erase and start again if I make a mistake.? So when I have two recordings how do I put them together? Tom from Blackburn now in Ilkley.
@davidprocter1585
@davidprocter1585 3 жыл бұрын
So sorry I missed this Tom! If you're doing something simple like this, just play and sing your song while recording your guitar on track 1. If you're not happy with it, just rewind and do it again. Once you're happy with the guitar on track 1, use the track selector button to select track 2, and unplug the guitar jack. This will change the input to the mic setting. Rewind and press record and play again, this time just singing. You will still hear your guitar on track one but you won't delete it so long as you've selected the other track. If you follow the method I described between 3.18 and 7.24 of the vid you should be OK. Good luck, from the red rose County! 😊

Mate that's one of the best song demos I've seen on the boss br. Is that an original song cos it sounds like a motown classic or something. Bit like gimme some lovin.. The vocals sound great which is usually hard to achieve on that little unit. Very clever use of the drums . Shows what can be achieved.
@davidprocter1585

Oh man! What a comment to wake up to! Thank you!! It's obvious where my influences originate! Yea, that's a small section of a song intended for a "must do before I die" album. Most of my music is used as accompanying instrumental music for my fishing vids, I struggle greatly with lyrics, so proper songs take me forever! The vocals are recorded with a touch of vocal compression, and a fairly cheap AKG mic plugged into the guitar jack. The comp patch thickens up a thin reedy voice like mine! I've done a couple of drum machine vids, as I found it quite difficult when I started out with trial and error! I've promised a guitar tone/custom patch vid soon, so watch out for that one! I've used this machine for live performance drums/bass backing tracks, and instead of using an amp just plugged into the unit and used a valve amp patch, it sounded like a Marshall stack! Incredible tool! I sometimes use additional percussion from my casio keyboard, but often not. The one I'm most proud of is the vid "hebridean sea trout part 1" check out the celtic tune on that!! Even if you don't like fishing, the landscape of the western Isles is something to behold!! Cheers dp

Hi there! on the menu option select mastering and chose the desired mix (or simply leave it as basic pre master) and then press record and play. I think its on one of my other videos, " guitar tones and mastering". It will be saved to the e band as a WAV file. set the device to E band to find it. If I want to copy the WAV file to my laptop I remove the SD card and insert it into the laptop port, and from there copy it.

Hi Alan, thanks! Go to menu, select track edit, then look for track erase, click on that and select the track you want to lose. If its just part of a track, you can select just a part. You can also erase part of a track by recording over it with the input vol (rh edge wheel) turned to 0. Hope this helps! 👍

@davidprocter1585

You've got me there! There's an option to "drop in" to correct a mistake, or you can use the Vtracks to make alternative versions of a single track, say, , then pick out the best to keep . I used "drop in" on the old 4 track micro BR but stopped as it seemed to be over stressing it, and it would go haywire and corrupt the whole song! No probs like that with Br80 though, touch wood. I find it a good idea to make a copy if you're putting a lot of time and effort into a song, if something goes wrong you can drop onto the copy version and carry on. Better than starting from scratch!

Hey dude great video. I currently have the older Mirco BR and it has served me well for over a decade. I'm looking at this one now and I have a few questions: Were those your vocals on the song? Did you use mics or the onboard ones? When you convert the tracks which file format are they? The micro used the B0 format and then Mp3. I would think they are the same. Anyways, love to hear your feedback on this. Great song too! Cheers mate from the U.S.
@davidprocter1585
@davidprocter1585 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, thanks for your comments! The vocals were recorded with a modestly priced AKG gig mic, so nothing fancy! I use a little vocal compression and reverb. I don't normally master on the br 80, as my pc won't process the wav files (no mp3 option on the br 80) but I record the completed song onto the old micro br using the line in, then process to mp3, then store on the pc and memory stick. Those more expert with IT will no doubt figure out the conversion from Wav to MP3 for themselves!
