Thank you so much for presenting this video. Operating QRP really proves the efficiency of an antenna. It blows my mind how you made contacts using such low power. I did not think that such a design would work so well on all hf bands, especially on 12 and 10 meters. I've been thinking about what would be the best general purpose all band design for portable operation and I think you have nailed it. Of course as with most things in life it is a compromise. You do have to tune the antenna every time you QSY. But that is such a trivial thing. The ability to operate on any band completely outweighs the small disadvantage of having to tune.

Hello.. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.. It does perform better than I expected as well. It does require an open area to spread the wires and string out but other than that, its pretty easy to deploy.. Results in your area may vary but I've had great success with this configuration.. Good luck on your continued search and I hope you find what you are looking for.. Thanks for watching.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb

Hi Bill.. It works pretty well.. I've pulled the wires to the top of a pole today and will continue to work it from the shack, so the jury is still out on a verdict.. Thanks for watching and commenting.. I appreciate it.. 73, kevin ~ k0klb

Hi Bobby.. Thanks for stopping by.. It is pretty easy to launch up on a spider beam for portable use.. I liked it so much, I pulled it up on my 45ft pole here next to the ham shack.. I've been using it and have even worked some good QRP 5w DX with it.. It def does a nice job.. Thanks for supporting the channel.. I appreciate it.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb

This is obviously a good solution for daytime portable operation. It's easy to deploy and it provides very good radiation efficiency across multiple bands.

A very interesting antenna, can you please tell me if you have any experience with it? Would it be possible to write its dimensions? Thank you 73!

Hello Jacob.. I've been experimenting more with it lately.. The leg lengths are 48ft long so a total length of 96ft.. Legs are sloping down.. I just pulled it up on a 50ft pole that I installed here at the home QTH.. I've added a 4:1 balun near the house. Here is the setup.. Radio in house, tuner, 12ft coax going outside to box with 4:1 balun, approx 80ft of 450 ohm ladderline goin up the pole to the center of dipole legs, legs sloping down (maybe a 45 degree angle). Here are the SWR (center of SSB range) results from antenna analyzer: 160m = 2.4, 80m = 6.0, 40m = 2.5, 20m = 2.9, 17m = 1.7, 15m = 1.3, 12m = 2.9, 10m = 1.5.... Your results may vary.. Thanks for watching.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb

What is your closest POTA park. Mine is 15 miles south of me. We have numerous potential spots that are owned by the state which one is just north of me in my section. How hard would it be to petition the spot to be a POTA park?
@hamradioqrp-k0klb
@hamradioqrp-k0klb Жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin.. My closest state park is 5 miles as a crow flies. It is a pretty quiet park, but if I want to be secluded in a Wild Life mgt area with no public around, I have to drive about 20 minutes.. I don't think Noah's park would qualify for a pota park, but it would be convenient for me for sure, LOL.. Thanks for stopping by and good to heat you back active again.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb

In reality that’s not a dipole. It’s 2x 5/8 antennas colinearly mounted. It’s origin it’s the extended double zepp antenna and its amazing!

Hello Pedro.. Thanks for stopping by.. I admit, I'm not very good at the original history and names of antennas.. I just throw things in the air, have some fun and see if it works.. Thanks for the correction and for sharing the origin information.. It does work very well.. 73, Kevin ~ k0klb
