Hi Kevin, great video... Velcro is a Ham's duct tape! I have a number of pocket qrp radios. My QMX LoBander has a 12v 3aH TalentCell and a Palm Pico velcro'd to it. I have a AX1, but I keep that with my KX2 kit. I use a simple 20m whip, or a 40m EFλ/2 PackTenna. There is a posted article I wrote about my attempt to send a beacon CW signal from atop the Eiffel Tower with my 20m QCX Mini, late spring this year. It was a fail for various reasons, but fun to try. Check out QRP'er under W7UDT... Thanks again. Hope to see you down the log. 72 de W7UDT ID sk ee

Doesn’t the barb wire interfere, possibly enhance the counterpoise? How many times did you have to call those parks? Just curious. Although it worked a lot depends on band conditions where a less comprised antenna would work a lot better. Great video demonstrating when the bands are good even a compromised antenna works well.

Hi Truckinguy.. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.. Good questions.. The barbwire could have some affect, I dunno.. It takes someone smarter than me to figure that out.. As far as times calling the parks, I found park stations that didn't have a pile up (a QRP operators trick) and called them.. They responded on my first or second call.. I tried a few stations with pileups but couldn't get through (which isn't surprising as they usually take the loudest stations and my 5w probably wasn't very loud, LOL and I don't advertise that I'm QRP).
