The refugee service's work in Molde
Molde municipality has settled refugees since the beginning of the 2000s. Most are from Eritrea, Somalia and Syria, but recently a large group from Ukraine has arrived. IMDi states that the estimated arrival of refugees in Norway in 2023 will be approximately 35,000 people and Molde was asked to accept 320 in 2023. Never before have so many refugees
arrived.
The refugee service's work is to settle, qualify and integrate newly arrived refugees in Molde municipality. We provide housing, welcome them when they arrive, and provide guidance, advice and information during the establishment phase. Our goal is to give refugees a good start so that they can quickly become active and independent citizens. The refugee service also offers an introductory program with Norwegian training, and provides career guidance for finding a job and education. Integration takes place in all parts of everyday life, where children and adults stay. Molde municipality therefore actively collaborates both with voluntary organizations and local businesses in order to succeed.
