Second day for learning Germany, and I've found such a similar pattern between English, Germany and French. Learning Germany from scratch through eastern languages is so difficult because of the huge discrepancies between cultures. I started learning Deutsch only ~2 weeks ago, so hv many questions..pls bear with me: 30.42 says "...**eninen** Bruder." My understanding is that feminine is eine (thus "..eine Schwester.." follows that rule), & ein is masculine. So shouldn't it be "..ein Bruder.."?

You’re absolutely right that "eine" is for feminine nouns, and "ein" is used for masculine and neuter nouns in the nominative case (the subject of a sentence). However, in this sentence, "einen Bruder" is in the accusative case because the verb "haben" (to have) requires its objects to be in the accusative. In the accusative case: Feminine nouns stay the same: eine Schwester Masculine nouns change to einen Bruder Neuter nouns stay the same: ein Kind So, the correct sentence is: "Ich habe eine Schwester und einen Bruder." I hope this clears things up! Keep asking questions-they’re the best way to learn. You're doing great for just two weeks in!
