I own BOTH. My advice for any buyer: Unless you are 100% confident in how your electrical outlets were wired & grounded that you’re gonna plug these machines into; and 100% confidence in the electrical circuit from that outlet to the breaker box, do NOT plug your 215 or 220 into the outlet! Spend the money & have a certified Electrician check your outlet & circuit first. These wonderful machines (I love mine) are essentially a massive electronics circuit board inside a blue metal box; and within 1 second you will burn up that board plugging it into a funky wired outlet. Ask me how I know about this! These machines are not our old 141 Mig machines that you could practically drop on the ground & it would just keep working; these are sensitive machines that will not put up with any outlet BS for even a second. I wish Miller sold some kind of outlet strip that went between your machine and the outlet, that would shut itself off the moment it detected a surge or a bad polarity or bad ground etc.. I’d pay $200 for such insurance, no problem.

Okay, I'll bite. How do you know? The machine shouldn't be sending current thru the ground in a normal state. Any other bad wiring would short the terminals and pop the breaker. I can't see how a residential single phase service could provide a dangerous voltage to the machine. Or did you plug into a single phase leg on a 480 3ph service that was wired incorrectly?

@@sccolbert I blew up my machine in an instant. Old machines could take my outlets, but not new sensitive machines

@@sccolbert Wiring worked but was not correct; neutral was in wrong place. Any mistake in wiring will fry your motherboard in 1 second

Hey how would either one work getting power from a gas generator ? I have a Honeywell gas generator on my truck doing small engine and equipment repairs.
