Multiple Purpose Charger for DJI Phantom 3 Batteries

The Turningy Accucel 6 with the alternate 1.3 F/W is able to charge LiHv Smart batteries from the DJI Series using multiple power sources like: Mains, Car cigarette plug or another LiPo. It also has over discharge protection and has programmable charge current.

Looks like a good charger. I use a iMax B6 for most of my charging, and have 2 DJI chargers (57w and 104w). if my B6 ever dies, I'd definitely look at getting the Turnigy.

I also previously had a B6 clone from HobbyKing, it was very good. The Accucel is made by SkyRC (original producer of the B6) and re-branded, this makes it compatible with the charge master app and you can also control it from the PC via a usb cable. It's great as you can monitor the charge rate and it displays graphs of your lipo's. The LiHv compatibility and and the possibility to hook it up to the car make it excellent.

For some reason when I try this it just says "cell error." I have the same cable as you, although I am using a SKYRC charger instead. I made sure the battery is turned on.

On the SKYRC it will not work, my accucell version has a modified firmware which allows charging without balance port thus it will not give any cell error.

Not really, if the battery BMS has locked it then you can't do much.

You need to update the firmware (found on hobby king website) and also use the "fast charge" option without balance.

Strange you say: it's a LiPO battery but you choose LiHV charge !?

LiPo and LiHv are similare, LiPo is 4.2V/cell and LiHv goes to 4.35V/cell.

The DJI P3 batteries are actually LiHV since they are 15.2 volts, Standard 4s LiPOs are only 14.8 volts.

I just can't see any substantial benefit from using this charger the original is really good and the charging is still controlled by the battery BMS anyway.

Hi there, I have mentioned some of the benefits in the video. The charger is able to use various power supply like another LiPo, Car cigarette plug, etc. If you have multiple R/C models that use regular non smart LiPo chances are that your are going to use one of this anyways so it's preferred when traveling as a second charger for the P3.

This is an intelligent charger for charging dumb batteries. WHY use it to charge smart batteries that cut off anyway when full ???? Just apply 17.4 volts. Use the dji charger or buy a multi bat charger off ebay.

Because this smart charger will work off a car cigarette plug, a car battery, another larger LiPo and also acts as a second mains charger. It's good to use it when traveling, saves space and also charges your other dumb batteries :)

lower C rating means more life span, less stress, higher charge consistency.

that is no longer true with today's lipos unless this are 10c and or cheap lipos just like the batteries on yuneec and chroma .. any lipos that are 20c, 30c, 40c, etc can be charge 2C atleast ... even some advertised to 15c but i don't recommened that high.. honestly, you bought an 'under powered" charger . you should buy the 500 to 1000 watts multi charger for a true high charging rate and "parallel charging" too.. :-P

Yurs Truly The P3 batteries are low C, it's believed to have around 10C only. With the stock charger they get warm / hot when charging in higher ambient temperature.

because he owns an 80w charger from hobbyking which is way "under powered".. should had invested with 1000 watts multi charger for a true parallel and fast charging.. :-)

I don't need hi power chargers, most of my quads have 1 to 2 amp hours 3S cells and i can parallel charge that if I want to.

Hi, can you please let me know where to get the alternative firmware you have mentioned for the Turnigy Accucell 80 W charger (v. 1.3). I have also bought this charger and by default I can't disable the balance port.

Tried that one, but no luck. After the upload, error displayed, like "No DFU" or similar...

You just reminded me as I had the same problem, you need to manually set: enter VID = 0x0000 and PID=0x0001 before update and it will proceed successfully.

Tried it also with this settings, but again the same error message. Never mind, turns out that Imax B6AC V2 is a better (albeit a bit more expensive) charger ;-)
