A lot of you were excited that I found a solution to using multiple Rode Wireless Go microphones, and wanted a step by step video of how I made my portable audio kit. So here it is! It's not complicated at all, and feel free to improve on the idea!

Just a heads up - I recently ran x5 Wireless Go's and got frequent drop-outs during recording. Spoke with Rode and it seems if the receivers are placed within 5cm of each other the 2.4GHz wireless signals can interfere with each other. Bit of a problem as the provided cables are all very short, so my advice for anyone attempting this would be to get longer cables and place the receivers a fair distance apart!

If I get what you're saying, it means that if one must place them over 5cm apart, the setup in this video becomes unusable which is a shame because it looks really cool hooking them on to that metal mount.

I'm going to use this setup for at least one lav mic whilst filming run and gun, I'll see if multiple affect the signal and if so you could try removing the cheese play and creating a little more distance between the receivers, although the cheese plate is a dope idea so I hope it doesn't come to that. Great video and keep it up, your channel will grow with this great stuff.

posted this on the last video but here is for newer people; I've found that when i connect my wireless GOs to my zoon h4n pro and it gets too close to the body of the recorder, there is interference between the transmitter and the reciever caused by the zoom recorder. also I don't use XLR to jack adapters I found that a Big jack to small Jack works great. I didn't know it accepted that at first but on the zoom h4n, and other zoom recorder models (including the H5, H6 and H8) here is a hole in the middle of the xlr slot that the big jack fits right into.

Great informative video thank you! I can one up this set up for you by adding an extra Wireless GO. So you can have wireless sound to your camera for reference sound. Plug in a Wireless Go transmitter (from what would be a fifth Go) into the output of the Zoom. Take the Go Receiver and plug it into a camera. Bam! Now you have reference sound to your camera wirelessly and getting the separate audio tracks to the Zoom!

@@nextlevelcraig Great idea! I guess you might need an attenuated cable between the Zoom's line-out and the additional Rode transmitter's mic-in. Also some decoupling circuitry to remove the Transmitter's plug-in power on its microphone socket? Plus, will a transmitter that close to four receivers cause receiver sensitivity deafness?

I know this footage was filmed 2 years ago, but have you considered rotating the cheese plate 180 degrees so the Zoom H6 faces upright instead of being upside down? This would make reading the screen / meters much easier. What about using something like a Manfrotto Pixi Mini Tripod wth a ball head, that way you can tilt the H6 at a suitable viewing angle, instead of being at right angles to the desktop? Ps, would your setup be different if you had 2x Wireless Go2’s instead of the 4 x single wireless go?

Great setup, and your detailed information was very helpful, thanks a lot! Since you are using the Rode VXLR+, I am assuming that you have set your Zoom H6 to provide some phantom power on inputs 1-4? What phantom power settings are you using on your Zoom H6? (Menu, INPUT&OUTPUT, Phantom)?

I do have it set to Phantom power but I forget the setting. I have been on vacation so I don't have it with me right now.

Great video! Thank you for the way you explain all in such a simple way to understand! Especially for us starting off in the exciting world of audio and video without the background knowledge of sound. What is your thoughts on the Zoom podcast pro just released?

Great videos! Appreciate the content very helpful! What type of mic setup would you use if you were recording 5- 6 guys sitting around a campfire and you want to get crisp sound from everyone apart of the conversation?
