@@ThomasIsBored wow anecdotal evidence is so impressive, maybe your too blind to notice that nothing weapon related happened at the big scary bar either. The guards are not big dumb brutes that just think "me have big gun good" and instead used appropriate force (ie pepper spray) to deal with the problem. It could be in gang territory were there is a higher chance of a shootout between gangs happen which would make having long guns on the premises a very prudent decision. I can guarantee wherever you live has the same type of areas and smart businesses located there have whatever has not been banned by their coddling government for being too evil and scary so they can to protect against that. I have also deployed a Taser 5 time's and had the Taser fail 3 of the 5 time's . OC spray is the way. Having had to "qual" or be "certified" in OC with two different jobs being fully sprayed I have learned how to control the pain you WILL absolutely go through every time you use OC . I imagine it has to be tough being a security guard in the days or weeks after some of these encounters for fear of retaliation-a drive-by, etc. I know these security guards might not be facing the level of danger that police consistently do, but they are certainly putting themselves in some risky positions, especially if your place of employment is a fixed location day in and day out.

As a neighbourhood watch we get involved in a lot of incidents that are resolved with pepper spray. The strange thing is in the USA we see people shot where it could have been resolved with pepper spray. Sometimes it looks like a gun just aggravates a situation. Just remembered some people seem to be immune. We sprayed a guy , pepper balled him and sprayed him again and he did not even cough.

In the first video, If that's the closest that "security guard" ever came to shooting someone, he should not be licensed to carry a firearm. That crazy lady was never a legitimate threat. She pulled out a knife, OK, but she was backing away from the guard as soon as she pulled it out. Never made a move towards him, and once he drew his gun, she immediately submitted. She never posed a threat, but is still batshit crazy

The reason I carry a gel is because I'm the place I work, I'm indoors, and a fair amount of our clientele is older. God forbid I ever have to use it, but if I do, I want to effect ONLY the person I'm pointing it at. For general carry in public when I'm not working, I carry a stream aerosol instead, and for use from my car, I have a stream aerosol combination spray.
