On which side would you clip a stage if you only use one? I think I would prefer my right side. Is there any specific reason you wear it on your left?

@@scottselkey4460 I wear my light canister on my left. Theres no problem in addding a D-RIng on the right and I don't think there is a valid reason for nit having the long hose on the other side as well... but could be wrong

@@Chem-iu5jx The long hose should NEVER be attached to the left post. The reason for this is that it's possible for contact with an overhead obstacle to cause a roll-off on the left post, and this would leave you both unable to breathe from your primary regulator, or share air in an emergency. The light canister goes on the right side so that in the event of wing failure, it can be ditched as part of your removable weight, making up your balanced rig; if you place the light on the left side, it would be trapped on the webbing first by the D-ring, and then by the buckle. Also, the canister stays on the opposite side so as not to interfere with stages, which are worn on the left. The light is held in the left hand also - this leaves the right hand and side of body completely free to manoeuvre a DPV, signal, donate a regulator in an emergency etc. In addition to this, items which will be used frequently are stashed in the right thigh pocket; this would be difficult to access with multiple stages on the right, especially with bulky dry glove rings. The reason that DIR principles work is that they are standardised for everyone, across all environments (for the most part); when you start messing around with configurations, you'll run into issues you never even conceived of, usually at the worst possible moment!

Do you have a specific reason as to why you have both tanks on one side rather than one left one right?
