I have grown a garden for years and we collect our seeds every year and we haven't bought vegetables or seeds for years. Even if you can't can you can freeze a lot of what you grow.

Are’s is right out side my building within a few feet away, usually Human Resources Does This! People have come up with planting them right by their windows outside in a small patch a ground and around the building, small garden patches! But, most of us are disabled and, can’t lug that heavy equipment, let alone can use it and,end up being worse for where, that’s why we’re on disability for that reason, if we could lug and plant a garden, we’d be able to manage working a job and, we wouldn’t be barely getting by! Lol 14:28

You can buy basil, any type of seasoning that you grow! Also, you can grow your own vegetables! I don’t have the green thumb to do all this, but I did have that little bit of knowledge to share with you guys

Basil is a herb, you can grow your own herbs and, vegetables! Most people on these monthly benefits are physically disabled and, most people like me aren’t able to get down on the ground and get back up, therefore, a majority of physically disabled aren’t able to plant or grow herb and, vegetable garden, common sense folks! 13:50

@@sonyafox3271get off the crack pipe. You can get seeds put them in your kitchen window. Just because you are on disability doesn't mean you can't work. Social security has ticket to work for people on ssi then they have 9 month trial period for the people on ssdi. Use your common sense

The food bank I go to gave my 4 buckets with soil in it. 2 had tomato plants and 2 had pepper plants. They also gave me 4 little pots with dill and basil it them. They do this every Summer.

I have never put more dirt where I grow my garden and fertilizer doesn't make that much difference. I'm disabled walk with a cane even, but grounded with my hands and feet in my garden helps my mood and my pain level even.

IThose are all good ideas and i do all those things, but it is expensive, not free. Point is, I have room for a garden, but most people probably dont and if you rent, they wont allow you to plant a fruit tree. Sounds negative, but its reality. Wish i had known about buying my plants with food stamps, I'll file that away for next year. TY from Oregon where everybody has a garden.

Our apt has a community garden with in just a few inches of our apartment but, I am physically disabled for one, if, I physically can’t haul around and, use those heavy garden tools, that and, if, I get down on the ground,I am not getting back up, there’s no way! On top of battling cancer, I’d say your Koo- Koo, I get some people can but, the majority of disabled people, well, let’s be realistic, the majority of us can’t that’s why we’re not able to work to begin with and, had to file for disability, common sense folks! It’s not worth getting yourself seriously injured and, ending up worse for where! 0:05

I wish I lived in an area where I could grow veggies. As a child in New England, I always enjoyed healthy produce from my father's garden. I wanted to do he same thing when I moved to California. Unfortunately, the soil here is just dust (like sand) with no nutrients and the weather is too hot and dry. I bought a lemon tree and an orange tree and they both died within 3 months. By the way, regarding avocados - you have to have TWO mature trees (male and female) for them to bear fruit. Same thing with holly and other plants.

I'm disabled and have done it before. You can put it on a table or a shelf in front of a window seal Dollar tree,family dollar, dollar general have seeds 4 for a dollar, Walmart all have seeds.

You may see free stuff on craigslist but that doesn’t mean you’re capable of going to get it. A lot of people are elderly. A lot of people are disabled. A lot of people don’t have no car because of the fixed income there on and even if there is a community space that doesn’t guarantee that you can use it, you have no idea how bad these apartments can be for elderly and disabled people that’s not to mention the fact that you’ll be lucky if you get to keep them I had two Boston ferns stole right off of my porch. It’s a very small porch and they just walked right up in my yard and walked away with them.

You can use the bottom parts of the green onion, the bottom parts of a head of lettuce, the bottom of celery, the bottom of the cabbage you can use these things and put them in water. A very little amount of water change it out regularly until it gets roots and then put it in dirt if you really wanna regrow somethingthat you’ve already paid for out of that has paid for itself but you’re gonna need something. You’re gonna need dirt or potting soil you’re gonna need to water it fertilize it and take care of it.

Don't forget to put drainage holes in the buckets for drainage or stones on the bottom first. Also stores may have seeds and plants on sale now. Could buy the seeds this year for next year. Over half of them should still grow next year.

Thats great I Nowlive in an. Apt. On the third floor, i dont have a balcony and i have only 2 windows in the apt. 1 in the living and 1 i. the bedroom!! Its 850 sq ft where would you suggust i put t h e plants and water abd take cade of them??????? You yourself cant even name the plants! When your plants grow and need to be repotted where do i do all this at, remember im on the 3rd floor and o have NO balcony!! Your sounding more and more like our government everday! I saved some seeds from my iced tea and I planted them now mind you lemon trees, lime trees, orange trees, pear, trees, apple trees none of them will produce fruit without a male and a female pretty much and also they do not produce fruit until maybe their fourth fifth or even sixth year of growth Right now my two lemon trees are almost 5 feet tall 100 gallon pots and I made a little bench out of 22 by fours and four sander blocks that I got at the hardware store to keep them up off the ground to keep but as of yet I still have not gotten any fruit from themit’s a process and you just have to wait and see. Maybe you will maybe you won’t. I don’t know if I’m lucky by next spring I should be getting lemons.

FYI..You have to have the nutrients in the soil to grow certain vegetables. You cannot just dig up any dirt to plant seeds or plants. I know because I own a farm. Thanks for letting people know.

How are you supposed to transport them without a car or a truck and where are you going to find enough of a piece of land to be able to grow pumpkins seriously living in an apartment Pumpkins take space beans take space beans have to have something to climb on cucumbers. Here in Tx you can bye four packs of seeds for 1 dollar the dollar tree but no plant going from seeds to mature veggies doesn’t happen over night that’s it you held any at all you have to water n fertilize them and what are you supposed to do when the city says that you can only water on the second day of the week or every other third Wednesday or something like that because the aquifer is low because it’s over 100° here in Texas a lot during the summer and you live in an apartment you might as well give it up because you can’t grow nothing like that. I have a very few plants maybe about 10 more less and the people in the apartments are constantly telling me well you have too many plants that’s what old people do have a cat or dog a bird or a fish and some plants and you have to water your plants and you pay your water bill and you’re disabled and you’re on a fixed income that only makes matters worse

I live in a 55+ senior apt and have a 3rd floor balcony... so now I'm inspired to start a small planter box with cherry tomatoes, spring onions, radishes, cucumbers so I can grow my summer salads; just buy the lettuce! Usually that’s going to be a big no! They aren’t going to allow you to have a planter box , it is subsidized housing and, you aren’t entitled! There are codes they have to follow, after all it’s called government housing for a reason, you don’t get to just automatically do something you want! I can give you a suggestion if you live on the first floor! This is what people did, find a small bare patch of ground , even if it’s 2 or 3 and, you can grow that little garden right in front of your window or somewhere around the building, again, not in huge patches! 14:28
