I have the v4 and want to know what purpose are the spacers used for?

I had them on my 1260S and they made a huge difference in cutting down wind noise and buffeting. I now have the V4S but the link shown above is for 960, 1200 and 1260.

Does this change the angle of the screen to a more upright position?
