Actually, it was a little of both. The Pschologist was actually using a metaphoric type of psychology. In a way, it allowed Jooheon to relive his past life as a tiger in a circus as well as to see the connection with his current life as an artist. And now, he and the other members can understand why. I totally give him credit because not everyone can face their past life or lives head on without it being so painful. I don't believe in past life due to my religion but I do believe our subconscious uses scenarios similar to our own to explain why we are who we are. BUT either way- I did past life regression and it explained a lot. I was abused when I was really little as was my cousin. In my regression I saw myself saving 2 little girls who were being abused. I believe it meant I wish I could go back and find the courage to save myself, and how still today I want to save kids and I have great empathy for them. I remember watching this before and one comment stuck out to me. They say that since this is a psychological event, what Joohoney has mentioned when he was hypnotised probably reflects on how he is living as an idol right now. What he describes about his past life is an eery reminder of how many past idols described how they felt while being in the industry and about how harsh this industry can be to trainees and idols. I'm not into psychoanalysis, I'm not a professional. My interpretations are based on what I've seen as a kpop fan of 7 years and on the stories and articles I've read about the life of a trainee and kpop idol. I'm not saying that what I think is correct and I'm not trying to imply that Jooheon or the other members are unhappy with their lives as idols. This is a personal view on what I think his rendition of Matthew the Tiger means in relation to his current life. *1. Jooheon is not human. He's a tiger in a circus trapped behind big iron bars.* The way I interpret this, tigers, along with other animals, are used as an attraction by circuses to draw in an audience and ultimately, profit. Like the tiger, Jooheon, as well as other idols, are used as an "attraction" by his company to draw in fans and profit. I feel like the bars he's trapped behind is his company or maybe his contract. I don't know much about how he feels about his company but from what I've seen before, many ex-idols talk about how their companies treated them terribly or about how binding or unfair their contracts were and, like the bars he described, restrict them from pursuing what they want to do. *2. He feels sad and begins crying because of how much he hates the clowns who won't let him go and force him to do things he doesn't like to do.* I feel like this is very accurate to what Hangeng, JYJ, Kris, Luhan, Tao, BAP, etc. described in songs they've released, interviews, etc that they participated in after they were able to leave or renegotiate with their companies. Many ex-idols have talked about how binding those contracts are and how harsh and unfair they can be. The clowns, their companies, are the people keeping them locked in their cages forcing or pressuring them to do music they might not like, say things they don't mean, restrict them from doing things they want to do, etc. *3. If he wasn't obedient, the clowns would hit him and threaten him with fire and even though he suffered, he didn't have the courage to leave.* I'm sure many people saw that documentary with Nine Muses and the way their CEO treated them. That documentary alone caused international outrage and showed the harsh reality kpop is capable of. Circus animals and trainees/idols alike, if they didn't meet expectations they were punished and though trainees/idols are not physically abused (I hope) things like practice hours are increased or their indefinite debuts are delayed. Another thing this aspect of his past life may refer to is how isolated trainees/idols are. Although this may not apply to Jooheon or Monsta X, I feel like a lot of trainees enter the system at really young ages. From what I've read about the industry, all these trainees do train for a debut that may never come and leave little room for their education or exploring other career based opportunities because of how set they are on being a singer, actor, model, etc. Because of this, their performance in school is below what is necessary to get into a good college. If you know anything about Korean culture, you know that grades, school rank, and where you go to college dictates where you get a job and how well off you are as an adult. By the time trainees decide to move on and away from a trainee, they've isolated themselves. After spending all of these years in the system, quitting suddenly after putting so much work into this dream would be humiliating. I think this is what he means by not having the courage to leave; because of the little options he has and because of how much work he's put into trying to debut. *4. Because he was an animal, he was looked down upon and only did this because he enjoyed making children happy.* Many idols these days say they do it for the fans; because it makes them happy. They want their music to touch souls, to lift spirits, to make days. Jooheon as Matthew pushed on because he liked making the children who came to see him happy and he liked how interested they were in him. Even in his past life he was an entertainer which says something about him now that he is Jooheon.

dumplings1997 I'm a long time follower of Kpop like you 9 years, feels nice to see someone like me. New fans don't know how we struggled :p About the physical abuse you hope they don't have to go through. I'm sorry to inform you that some do. Jay Park said in an interview that trainers used to hit trainees that didn't do good (he said he wasn't hit because he was a good dance), that it is Korean culture (students for example) . He also said that nowadays in JYP they stopped doing so. I don't know if he said they stopped because it's true or to protect himself. I thought if such a major company stopped hitting trainees recently what other companies might do scares me. There also was a scandal with a CEO (former gangster) sexually harassing trainees and debuted idols (also forcing them to sexually harass other females trainees and fellows idols). A sick guys that was thankfully caught. Well, all that to say that we don't know what they go through and what his tears mean might be a lot horrible than what we think. :(

people dont seem to understand that this whole hypnotism was performed with intentions to understand jooheon's struggles. this life as a caged and neglected circus tiger directly coincides with his life as an idol. at times he feels caged and restricted. he is denied basic rights and pleasures of any normal human being because of a role he plays as a kpop member and his reputation cant be "tainted" because he represents his company. imagine living your life as a celebrity THEN imagine being a korean celebrity. i feel terrible for the pain and suffering idols and trainees go through to at times not even end up debuting. he has obviously struggled with being an idol and he's good at hiding it.
